"You're staying with me," he demanded abruptly, "I don't want you staying in that house alone, and I definitely don't want you anywhere near anything that could be potentially made to hurt you. Understood?""But dad-"
"Listen to me," he smiled, tightly holding my hand, "I'm just doing what's best for you.. and I don't think Michael's going to be staying with you, am I right?"
With nervous fingers, I tucked a strand of my curly hair back behind my ear, and looked up at him hesitantly.
"Fine." I breathed out heavily, "I'll stay in the palace, but not for long-"
"I won't force you on anything, except that you wake up and sleep in the palace, I'm fine with anything else," he nervously mumbled, " I just want you to be happy.. what happened to you.. it's not fair. And I want to do everything in my power to give you back that happiness, because by the looks of it.. I don't think you're able to handle that much."
"I-I can handle it," I stammered.
My golden wings fluttered fiercely above me, wild, but fearless. A beautiful shade of silver brushed across my skin, leaving strands of gold and white running across my loose curls.
He looked up at me with his brown eyes, confused.
"Woah," he muttered.. "h-how did you get you're powers? You look.. white."
"Sorry." With a small laugh, I step backwards, angrily clutching on my back. "I still haven't quite figured out how to control them just yet.."
"That takes time. But how did you.. you know.. get you're powers in the first place? I mean, Hailey. You're hair is white, you're hands are-"
I looked down at the floor hesitantly. I'm not ready to talk about this with anyone.
"Can we talk about this later? I'm really tired."
I nervously walked toward the two witches that stood patiently in the echoey hall. Empty seats, broken walls and cracked surfaces, I stood in the middle of the empty stadium. Hoping to avoid the subject and go back home.
"We'll talk about it whenever you're ready." With a soft smile, he hurries towards me.
"Thank you for tonight ladies," dad smiled as he walked towards us.
"No need, you're majesty." They both bowed in front of him.
"Well done princess," Valeria announced, "I'm sure it wasn't an easy thing to do, killing innocent people in front of you're own eyes, or finding out that.."
"It definitely wasn't easy," I shook my head slightly tightening the grasp on my arm. "Not even close."
"It will all be over soon," he replied soothingly, turning to look back at them. "Let's go home."
"Valeria," I smiled gently, "Valerie, take us back to the castle please."
------------
I laid down on the bed, beneath the fluffy golden sheets, staring at the chandelier that hung magnificently from the ceiling.
Seconds later, my phone rang. "You okay?"
I could recognize that voice anywhere. For some reason, my heart dropped down at the sound of his voice.
