Make Me Understand

That day.. I stormed out of the room. I couldn't comprehend a single word anyone was telling me, and I don't think I will anytime soon.

I can't kill people, I'm an angel. An angel killing four innocent people.. that's the definition of insanity.

I don't want to be a murderer.

And I couldn't accept the fact that saving my own mother meant killing people and going against everything I was raised to do.

Fast forward a couple of days later, and I still can't process what dad told me. So I stayed home, what better way is there to escape reality than stay at home surrounded by walls?

In those few days, I blocked off everything in my head. I didn't wanna think about what absurd things I was told, and I didn't wanna think about anything relating to that topic. I was capable of doing that.

But I couldn't block him out.

He's the first person to pop up in my mind every single morning, and for some reason, I couldn't get him out of my head. So I decided to text him, hoping that he'll help me understand what's going on right now.

Hailey: Hey, can we talk?

As I waited for his reply, I went and made myself some breakfast.

Alex: Sure, I'm on my way gorgeous.
Hailey: Gorgeous?

Alex: Can't I tell my "stepsister" she's gorgeous?

I rolled my eyes, ignoring the weird feeling in my stomach, and washed off my plate.

"Hey," a voice came from behind me. "I missed you Hailz, it's been a while," Alex smiled and wrapped his arms around me.

"I missed you too," I smiled as he let go, "and how did you get in here? I'm pretty sure the door was locked."

"Yeah, it was," he laughed at my reaction, "but dad gave me a key."

"Oh, okay," I said confusingly, "but why would he give you a key?"

"Chill, I'm not here to kidnap you or anything," he said, laughing. "He just gave it to me so I could check up on you every now and then."

"Okay, so.. you came here for a reason, I believe. Can you just.. help me understand? Or at least, help me process all this information."

"Woah, somebody's in a rush.." he laughed, gently playing with a strand of my curly hair. "I'll tell you anything you want, just ask," he winked, and gave me a nudge on the shoulder.

"See the thing is, Alexander Donovan," I said sarcastically, "I want you to tell me everything."

"Well, how about I actually take you there yourself? You know, take you back in time like they do in the movies!" he said jokingly.

"You can't possibly take me ten years back," I laughed, "you can't show me everything you dummy."

His glance shifted over to the floor awkwardly.

"What's that look for?"

"What look? I'll tell you anything just ask," he said nervously.

"You can take me back can't you?" I breathed out, trying to keep calm, "If you really do have the power to do that then do it. And I think.. I think you do have the power, I remember that mom could take her thoughts back to the past."
