She grew fast, my daughter. And I grew too, my depression found a way to leave, with the help of Maia. I looked at the calendar, this was it, her third birthday. So much time had passed since that faithful day so long ago. I was brought out of thought when I felt a small hand grasp my own.

Maia smiled up at me, and I returned the gesture. Her curly brown hair hung loosely at her sides and she wore one of her favorite princess dresses. She was waiting anxiously, as was I, for him to come home. Her dad had been on tour with his band, playing concerts across the world for their new album. Maia understood that her dad was busy, but today was special, he was coming home just to see her, because it was her birthday and he always come home for her birthday. A knock sounded from the door and a huge smile flashed brightly on my little girl's face. She ran to the door and I opened it, watching as she dove into her fathers arms.

When he was done hugging her he pulled me in. I kissed him softly, then leaned back and brought Maia into the embrace. She opened her gorgeous brown eyes, giggling as her Calum attacked her with kisses. When I started laughing he quickly stole one from me too, smirking evilly and running away after our daughter as he did so.

I laughed, then chased after the brown-eyed boy who I'd come to love more than anyone in the entire world.
