The windows of the small building were covered with old posters, it's content now unrecognisable, showing its age. I didn't think it was a restaurant until Yosub had pointed it out because to me it simply looked like an abandoned building.
"GRANDMA!"
Yosub raced forwards into the restaurant, his footsteps echoing inside. I followed behind him, but winced as soon as I felt the floorboard move beneath my feet.
Every step I took, caused the floorboards to creak and I genuinely feared for my safety in the restaurant; the place desperately needed to be renovated.
Had this restaurant been in the city, the business would have been shut down straightaway due to it's inability to pass a safety check.
"Yosub, my cute baby. Come over here darling," cooed Eunju, whom I remembered from the party the other night. She was a relatively short chubby woman, probably around 5 ft.
She extended out her arms and Yosub ran eagerly to her, not minding the floorboards violently creaking beneath his feet. They jumped around together, causing Eunju's grey curls to bounce around.
I pursed my lips to stop myself from smiling because the sight was actually sort of cute.
"How's my favourite grandson?" she asked, squeezing Yosub's cheeks.
"I was just showing noona around," he said, pointing at me.
She finally looked up and gave me a warm smile. I replied with a quick bow, introducing myself.
"Nice place."
Good one, dumbass.
I cringed at how sarcastic I sounded. It was such a stupid thing to say, especially since I didn't even mean it; but I didn't know what else to say. Thankfully she simply replied with a giggle, saving me from the embarrassment.
"How about you two go sit with Taehyung, whilst I go prepare the food," said Eunju, "he is over there in the corner."
Me and Yosub looked to our left to see Taehyung sitting couple of tables away. He had his head down and was trying to cover himself with his sunhat, but I recognised his red tracksuit straightaway.
I huffed and scowled when I remembered how rude he had been earlier, when I was simply just trying to show my appreciation. He would have been crying with joy if he knew how rarely I thanked people.
"HYUNG!" shrieked Yosub, causing me to jump. He energetically waved at Taehyung, who was now trying to lower himself in his seat, still doing a terrible job of hiding.
This kid needs to stop shouting all the time before I go deaf.
"Can I help you in the kitchen grandma?"
I poked Yosub's shoulder to get his attention and violently shook my head. I didn't want to be alone with Taehyung, he was clearly trying to avoid me.
But it was too late.
"If you insist," said his grandma.
Eunju chuckled and the two of them headed into the small kitchen, leaving me and Taehyung alone in the restaurant. I let out a sigh and began to meander my way past the tables, to sit in front of him.
As I sat down, he finally took off his hat and continued slurping his ramen. I rested my chin on one hand and drummed my fingers on the table with the other, trying to think of a good ice breaker.
"Will you ever tell me what happened last night?" I asked.
I could see his cheeks getting redder. What could have happened that caused him to become so quiet? He was definitely not like this earlier yesterday, in fact he wouldn't stop talking.
"Did something happen between us two?"
I narrowed my eyes to observe him carefully. As soon as I said that he choked on his noodles and violently started coughing. I let him recover waiting for his response.
"Nothing happened at all. I just carried you home, and then you vomited on my overalls," he said, as he wiped his mouth with the tissue I had given him.
Finally it all made sense. The reason why he was being so cold towards me was because I ruined his clothes. He could have mentioned that before instead of making me try to think of scenarios that could have happened between us last night.
"Ohhhhh," I said, "you should have said that in the first place. I thought I had done something stupid like randomly kissed you, that happens in dramas all the time, so cheesy."
Taehyung roared with laughter, slapping the table which cause the chopsticks to clatter in the empty bowl.
His reaction seemed so dramatized but I didn't care. I was just glad to have my questions answered because I thought I had done something even more embarrassing.
"Nothing like that happened. Nope. Not at all," he said, shaking his head and swatting his hand in the air.
"Those overalls were ugly anyways."
Taehyung gasped and placed his hand on his chest, as if I had just stabbed him in the heart.
"I loved the overalls so much, I got them last time I went to Seoul."
"Oh really? Don't tell me you got it from the market!" I laughed.
But Taehyung simply blinked at me, not showing any reaction. I really needed to stop making fun of peoples financial situations, especially since my circumstances right now gave me no right to do such a thing.
I guess he did buy them from the market.
"I'm sorry," I apologised. The room was now awkwardly quiet once again, only the sounds of Eunju and Yosub's muffled talking from the kitchen could be heard.
"Maybe you could try teaching me about fashion, because I obviously need help," he said, chuckling.
"Yes of course I can help. I didn't mean to be rude."
"And in return I can teach you how to farm."
"Why would I need to do such a thing?" I asked, confused.
Farming didn't exactly sound appealing to me and I came here to hide from the public eye, not to farm. Plus it wasn't like I was going to live here forever, sooner or later I would go back to the city, where I belong.
"Well how else are you planning to make money?"
Make money? What?
Then it suddenly dawned on me that he was right, I had no way of making money. My profession was being a celebrity, obviously now I couldn't earn money by acting or modelling.
Also my company would definitely not be paying for me to live in the countryside. The company president probably long forgot about me and instead is trying to find her new muse to replace me.
"It is really hard to find a job here in the countryside so instead, many create their own living. Whether it's by farming or owning a shop," he explained.
I groaned at all the options. If only I had managed my own finances, that stuff was all done by the company.
After contemplating about it for a few minutes, I finally came to a conclusion that farming was the most efficient way of earning money here. Plus, on the bright side I get to grow my own food, which is great I guess.
All I have got to do is water the crops regularly. Farming can't be that hard, right?
That was also the second mistake I made, the first being drinking. I guess after that is when all my troubles really started to happen. If I could go back in time I would have slapped myself hard and told myself not to say-
"Sure then, it's a deal," I smiled up at him, as we shook our hands.
A/N I am really on a roll with my updating, since I have no school for like the next couple of days. Well if anyone is still reading this story, thank you so much for all the support, even the ghost readers lol. I have been planning a Jimin fanfiction which I am so excited to write. I might start that once I finish with this one, if anyone even cares.
