"Genos look! It's a shooting star! Quick! Make a wish!" You cheered, pointing at the sky.

"But why?" Genos curiously asked.

"Isn't there anything that you want in the future?"

"Yes."

"Then make a wish! Someday, whatever you desire will happen!"

"Really?"

"Yeah!"

"Tell me something, (First). Did you ever wish for your father to stay with you?" He asked.

".... W-Well, yeah." You lowered your head.

"Is he here with you right now?"

".... In spirit, he is--"

"Wrong. He's not here. He's dead. So why are you wasting your time wishing upon a shooting star? They are just petty excuses for the weak to give them false hope to move on. Are you weak?" Genos wondered.

You've never heard him say that kind of thing to you before.

"What are you talking about?" You laughed in a nervous way.

"You can continue to lie to yourself, (First). But one day, you'll realize that you can't wait for things to happen. You have to make it happen."

"What do you mean 'make it happen'?? He's gone, I can't bring back the dead." You argued.

"I wonder how many useless wishes you made on shooting stars. They are nothing but remnants of the night sky. They don't grant wishes."

"Genos, why are you talking to me like this? Are you sure you're alright?--"

"I'm fine, but are you?" He questioned you.

"........." You couldn't say anything after that.

"What will you do when I'm gone? Make a wish and hope that I would come back the next day?"

You stared into his eyes with fear. He saw through you. He knew that you were making excuses to avoid the feeling of being all alone.

"I-It's not that easy..." You sighed, giving up.

"Nothing is easy, (First)." He finished.

What's there to defend? He's right. It is just an excuse to get false hope. If you were aware of this, why did you continue on?

"...... You're right, Genos... You're right...."

The sound of birds chirping reached your ears. A streak of sunlight hits your eyes, causing you to go blind for a brief moment before your vision returns. You squinted a couple times before opening your eyes. You let out a yawn as you stretched. You remembered the dream you had last night. It felt scary yet it was also something you had to overcome. You didn't expect such an expression coming from Genos. He was practically the opposite of the one in your dream. You noticed something cold beside you as you stirred in bed. For some reason, you did not feel any heat.

"Genos?" You turned to meet him face to face.

He hadn't moved an inch. You felt a little worried since the bed got colder. He stopped generating heat from his body. It seems as if he had shut down.

"
Genos? Can you hear me?" You gently patted him a couple times.

"Genos." You called out, nudging him.

No response came from him. He was still lifeless as he is.

"Genos." You repeated once more.

There was no reaction to his body or face.

"........ Genos!" You yelled out as you roughly shook him.

"Oh no. Nonononono." You quickly got out of bed and dragged the cyborg off.

"Genos, get up!" You patted his shoulders.

"What should I do???" You thought while you were in a state of panic.

He wasn't moving at all. It's as if he was still sleeping.

You were afraid that this day would surely come yet you didn't expect it to come so soon. Without a word, you grabbed your tools and dismantled Genos from top to bottom. You weren't sure what goes where anymore. You didn't know how to do this kind of thing. Last time, Genos just magically got up on his own. You decided to search for any damages done to his body. Surprisingly, it took you almost an entire day just to try and figure out how his system works yet nothing seems to come to mind.

"M-Maybe if I sleep tonight, you will surely come back alive the next morning, right?"

It was your last option to revive Genos. Your fingers began to feel cold and so was your body. You've forgotten how cold your room was before Genos came into your life. Now that he's gone, all you can feel is the unpleasant atmosphere that would send you chills every night.

You decided to put him back together, finding no solution after taking his body apart. You couldn't calm down. You couldn't do anything to help him. You tried everything. It was almost 12 in the morning and you decided to take your best bet on tomorrow. You hauled the cyborg on the bed and slept beside him while your lower body lays on the floor. It was exactly how it was when you first spend the night with him. All you can do is hope if you have no other options.

The next day had come and you woke up with a terrible headache. You couldn't remember what you dreamt last night since you had a rough time sleeping, thinking that Genos would somehow awaken from his slumber.

"Hngh, Genos....?" You softly groaned, lazily reaching for his hand. It felt like ice just by touching him with the tip of your finger.

You had a feeling that this wouldn't work like the last time.

"You there...?"

You knew that in the end, it did not work yet you wanted to believe that he will definitely wake up.

"Genos..." You closed your eyes, feeling stressed, frustrated, and afraid.

You didn't want to go back to the phase of losing someone important to you again. You couldn't just let Genos slip through your fingers. You had to look for different ways to bring him back.

"You know what Genos?...." You softly mumbled close to him as he continued to sleep in peace. A small tear falls from the corner of your eye.

"I wanted to be with you a little longer too."
