Genos wandered around in your room while you cooked up something for the two of you during the evening. He would often touch your things that you display on your shelves. He knew that they were awfully precious to you but he didn't know exactly why. They looked quite old and dusty.

"What are these?" Genos asks.

"They're old artifacts that my dad and I found a while back. Ahaha, it's like digging up bones of dinosaurs. He was a scientist. Strangely, he has a very good eyesight for finding these old things from like, centuries." You laughed.

"He never intends to sell them because he likes to keep them in here. It really makes our house look like a museum itself. To put it in simple words, he likes to collect stuff just like I do."

"Hm?" Genos finds a strange looking vase from the corner of his eye and immediately approached the old antique.

"Money?" He looks through the glass of the old looking vase, seeing that it was nearly filling up.

"Oh that? My dad and I wanted to save up so we can finally get a house of our own. But I really don't mind living here. It's small but easy to live here." You explained.

"I haven't seen him around lately. Where is he now?" Genos finally asks.

" He... died of cancer about a year ago." Your smile slowly dies out.

Genos glanced at your sudden expression.

"I'm very sorry about that--"

"It's okay, really! As long as I'm able to pay off my debts, he will rest easy." You began to smile again, thinking of the good things.

"Alright! Who's ready for some of my special shrimp soup?" You picked up the hot pot with your oven mitts and set it in the middle of your coffee table where you had a thick cloth under to avoid making a mark on the table.

Genos came by and properly sat down. You grabbed a bowl and poured a good amount of soup into it, serving it to Genos. He waits until you get your bowl and settled down across from him.

He claps his hands together and nods his head down.

"Thank you for the meal." He spoke.

"Ah, right." You copied his position and repeated his words.

You didn't take a single bite until you see the judgment of Genos's face yet, he stopped as well, nearly putting the spoon in his mouth.

"Is there something wrong?" He sets down the spoon.

"I want you to taste and see how it is that's all. I hope you're not allergic to shrimp." You giggled at your lame joke.

"Oh." He replied as he takes the first bite of the shrimp and tofu.

Your face leans in close to get a clearer reaction of the Cyborg.

"I like it very much. You're very good at this kind of thing." Genos smiled.

"Really? I'm so glad that you like it Genos!" For some reason, you were happy he had said that. It's been awhile since someone had tasted your cooking. Also, when was the last time you sat down and ate dinner with someone? You remembered having it with your dad yet it was a rare thing for the both of you. Nonetheless, you did not feel empty nor sad about it. Genos was finally here to give you company. You wish he could stay with you forever, having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with you every single day. You were starting to accept him as your own family.

"Oh yeah! I almost forgot!" You wiped your mouth with a napkin after nearly choking on the soft tofu.

"Hm?"

"Someone told me that you're a superhero who saves people!" You spread your arms wide to emphasize the title.

"Superhero?" He munched.

"Yep! You're an S-class hero which means you're one of those super professional elite squad members or something!" You explained.

"Ridiculous. I can't be that high." Genos chuckled.

"That's why you're so recognizable! You're the amazing cyborg who serves justice! Just like my idol Mumen Rider!" You laced your fingers together just thinking about that guy.

"Mumen... Rider?"

"Mmmhm! It's so cool~! Having a superhero in my own house, eating my special shrimp soup! It's like a dream I've never had before!" You went on and on as if you were a child bragging about a special toy. It made Genos smile at the fact that you were sparkling with life however, he stopped smiling after you mentioned his strength and capability of protecting people.

"And then!---"

"(First)."

"What?"

"Please don't talk about me like that. I'm not a hero like everyone says or wants." Genos bows his head down, motionless.

"Huh? But you are!--"

"I'm not."

"How could you say that? Of course you're amazing--"

"(First) I am begging you to stop." Genos's words were firm and cautious. He gripped onto his spoon tight, taking a deep breath. You didn't know what to say. It was awkward again.

"I'm sorry, (First)." He spoke.

"You didn't do anything wrong--"

"Just let me apologize to you. Please." He gritted his teeth.

"What will that solve?" You responded.

He looks up at your face.

"I'm not going to forgive you if that's what you want. I don't need to because there's nothing for me to forgive." You crossed your arms.

Genos's eyes widened, understanding your language.

"You can't blame yourself for not being able to protect me. If anything, it's just an excuse." You spoke in a serious tone.

"(F-First), I...."

"I know you'll be there for me when I need you Genos. I will never know what fear is as long as you're with me." You smiled warmly.

"...... Thank you, (First)."

I will stand by you, no matter what.
