"Everything's going to be alright. You'll be okay..."
"She's lost a lot of blood from that nasty fall."
"I know. She'll pull through."
"That apartment was burned down, can you believe it?"
"Did you hear? The owner of that apartment died."
"It's such a tragedy..."
You opened your eyes, feeling a burning sensation on your stomach. You felt queasy and hungry. You wondered how long you've been out. You couldn't tell where you were. Suddenly, a great shock of pain shoots through your left eye, causing your brows to knit in confusion.
"Ow...." You groaned.
"Hey, she's up."
You heard a young woman's voice not too far away. You attempted to move your fingers, fearing that more pain will come your way. You couldn't take the pain in your left eye. You felt as if there was a needle stuck inside, twisting as it goes deeper into your socket. You began to whimper, not being able to shake off the pain or ignore it.
"My eye...." You took a deep breath and let out a trembled voice.
"Good afternoon! How are you feeling, Ms. (L/n)?"
You refused to open your other eye, knowing that more pain will be caused even if you blink.
"Where is this place?" You spoke in a quiet voice.
"You're in a hospital right now. It's been about a day or so since you had that terrible accident." The nurse replied in a soft tone, feeling great sympathy for you.
"My stomach hurts so much...." You carefully breathed, avoiding the pain in the rib cage.
"Uh.... Well.... You fell from your compartment and... You were pierced by a thick piece of wood. Your spine was greatly affected by it so please try not to move too much."
"Oh...." That was all you could say though you couldn't believe such a thing happened to you.
"What's happened to my eye?" You asked, swallowing your saliva.
"There were pieces of sharp wood chips that got in your eye. We had to perform surgery on your eye to prevent the small splinters to enter your eye socket so we....."
"What?"
"We had to..... Excavate... Your left eye..." The nurse's tone of voice sounded apologetic.
You began to panic. You were losing too many things all at once. Having to lose one eye was scarier than your pierced stomach.
"My left eye is.... Gone?" Your jaw shook as you spoke. Tears began to form, regardless of the pain you attempt to endure. You remembered who was responsible or this mess. It was those two ruthless beings who took it away, the ones who brought the apartment building down. All you could feel was defeat and loss.
"I'm so sorry---"
"IT'S GONE!!!" You shrieked.
"Miss, please--"
"IT'S GONE!!!" You felt frustrated and hopeless. Your fingers cringed as they feel the hollowness of your left eye through the thick bandage, causing you to cry out loud. You felt sick.
"Please calm down!---"
You cried childishly, sitting up, ignoring everything. You looked at your trembling hands, not knowing what to do.
"DAD!?!" You called out.
"Miss??"
"I WANT MY DAD!!" You screamed.
You felt as if the nurse could grant your wish. Only your dad would know how to deal with something like this. Only he would be the one to take care of everything. Only he would be the one by your side.
"Dad?!!" You wailed, covering your eyes.
"M-Miss, I-I'll go and get him, don't you worry!" The nurse quickly rushed out the door, asking the doctor for help.
"I want to see him now!!" You hugged yourself, not knowing what you should do next.
"Dad please help me!!" You begged as you were left alone with a constant beeping noise of the monitor reading your heart.
The doctor quickly comes in and greets you with a syringe in his hand while that same nurse followed him from behind.
"W-Where is he??" You shouted.
"Hold her down, will you?" The doctor ignored your question while kindly asking for the nurse's assistance.
"Yes, doctor!"
As the nurse holds you down, you tried to fight her but you realized that your leg was in a cast that you couldn't kick her when you struggled to the point your bed sheets were falling off.
"Where is he!?" You roughly shoved her away from you as she tried to restrain you.
"Your father will be here shortly--- Don't worry, he'll come for you." The doctor managed to inject the liquid into your body, causing your upper body to become numb and motionless. You could no longer struggle yet you eventually succumbed to the dose when you heard that your father was going to come and take care of you.
"He's coming, you'll be alright." They lied, in which you believed them and closed your eyes as your rash behavior had paid the price, making you suffer in ache of your injuries. The syringe helped a little but you can still feel it. Relief was washed over you as you went back to sleep, waiting for your father to wake you up from this nightmare.
