I looked around the room in confusion. "What could have caused this? The windows and doors don't appear to have been tampered with!"
"Room service did it. I'll bet you ten credits that the assassin is hiding in the kitchen or something as we speak." Finn said with a satisfied smirk.
"Well maybe, but someone could have poisoned him. Or let some gross tiny bug under the crack in the door." Rey offered.
"Either one is possible. Rey and Amara, could you go ask for access to surveillance tapes and attempt some mind tricks on staff if they don't offer any information?" Luke said.
"Sure Dad, we'll be back in a few minutes." Rey said.
We walked out of the apartment room and over to the elevators. Once we were inside we hit the button that would bring us to the lobby.
"This whole situation seems weird. This senator wasn't a nobody, but he wasn't that important either. I wonder what his views on controversial topics are. Maybe that made him into a target." Rey mused.
"I guess. I have no real ideas to be honest. Just that this might become a big deal."
We entered the lobby. It appeared to be a pretty expensive place to live, if one judged by the vaulted ceilings and artwork that decorated the walls. We approached the front desk together, and I was fully aware that the secretary would probably be annoyed to see another person asking about the murder.
"Hello, we were wondering if we could have access to the surveillance tapes from two days ago? It's professional business, I can assure you that we are highly qualified." I said as politely as possible.
"May I see a badge first?" The receptionist answered.
Rey took out the badge that the resistance had given us and flashed it to her. She nodded and handed Rey a disk.
"Here you go, good luck!" The receptionist said.
We started to jog back to the elevator before work realized that rich people lived here and we could get kicked out for being "not safe" or something. As we floated back up towards the correct floor I thought about what this CD could hold. It could just open up into a bigger problem than we ever saw coming.
"Dad! We got the disk! It's a hologram, so we can just watch it now." Rey said excitedly.
Luke nodded and we pressed play. A wavering blue image of the room that we stood in appeared, and we adjusted the recording to play a sped up version. Upon seeing a streak go past the window Finn fumbled for the rewind button. We must have watched it happen ten times. A small hovercraft drove up next to the window, stopped, and a cloaked figure stepped onto the ledge of the window above the sleeping senators bed. It reached out a hand and started to slowly curl it's fingers into a fist. The senator thrashed violently in his bed and clawed at his neck, explaining the totaled sheets. Then he abruptly stopped moving, and the cloaked figure got into the ship and flew away at a breakneck speed.
"Well, it appears that the sith are up and at it again!" Poe said with a sigh.
