We are heading back to the Hall of Princes to see what Darren's first trial is. When we sit next to Mr. Crepsley and the others. It confused me why Mr. Crepsley wasn't up there with his assistant.

When I asked he said only his trainer was allowed up there with him, Vanez.

"So, Arra, you're a mentor now, never would have imagined you to actually take on the task." Kurda teased.

"It has been awhile since I have seen a human girl."

"I see, so you wanted to blood her?"

"Yes." Arra said simply. "Even though she knows a lot about the clan she still took the percotion of training first. This girl has a lot of potential, with me as her mentor she will be great."

"Quiet!!" Someone yelled from the platform, Mika.

A guard came to the platform with a bag.

"This bag is filled with rocks. Each rock has a number. The number will determine the trial you get." Paris says.

"Anyone wish to check the rocks?" Mika asks.

"I will." Gavner says. The guard comes over with the bag and Gavner checks it. He then nods his head and the guard goes back.

Darren sticks his hand in the bag and picks a rock, it was more of a pebble than rock, but oh well.

Darren gives the guard the rock and the guard calls out the number.

"Aquatic Maze." Paris says.

We then file out of the hall. Vanez and Darren go straight to work on teaching Darren how to do the trial properly.

Arra and I are talking in her cell.

She was sitting on her coffin lid.

I on the floor.

"So what is the connection between you and Mr. Crepsley?" I ask.

"What do you mean?" She asks.

"How do you two know each other, and are you more than comrades?"

"He once was my mate."

"Mate? As in husband?"

"Yes, in a way, a mate a link between a male and-"

"I don't need to hear this!"

"No not like that. Since a vampires life span is longer than a humans we do not marry for life, we make a short agreement, maybe a decade or two and then go our seperate ways. If we wished we could make another agreement. This is called mating."

"Oh, OK." I sigh, I thought I was gonna have 'the talk' with her.

"Soooo, do you looooove him?" I ask.

"No, I do not." She says nonchalantly.

"No? That's it?"

"Yes, now how about you and Darren? Mr. Crepsleys assistant?"
"Eh?" My eyes widen. "Nothing! Where would you ever get that idea?"

She chuckles. "You talk to him quite often."

"He's my best friend, of course!"

"There is more to it than just that."

"No, that is it. Really."

"Uh huh. Well, you should check on Darren now. I need to go do something."

And with that we go our ways, I go to the hall where Vanez and Darren is training.

"Hey." I say.
