Reluctantly I took a chance and inhaled through my nose but the second I did, I regretted it. Cassandra had garlic and chive puffs at her kick back and the girl next to me had eaten a few too many. The entire time we were in the truck she was belting out song lyrics and talking about anything and everything. Even though the windows were down her hazardous breath continued to make the truck smell more terrible by the second. I glared at Cassandra who sat in the front seat. She couldn't have just had chips and salsa or finger sandwiches? I sighed, because I was counting down the seconds and minutes till we arrived at Heidi's.

I was squished between garlic girl and Hunter, who was seemingly comfortable as he stared out the window. As we sped onto the highway ramp, the lights briefly illuminated his face and I caught glimpse of his hair blowing back from his forehead. I was staring at him obnoxiously with envy and admiration. He glanced over at me, probably because he felt me staring at him for so long. My eyes quickly darted to the open window and I pretended to be deep in thought, watching passing traffic.

"--Met you and this is crazy!" Garlic girl howled at the top of her lungs and I winced.

Cassandra glanced back at the girl and then she looked at Heather in the drivers seat. "I didn't have alcohol at my party... Right?"

"You're not completely clueless...Are you?" Heather asked hesitantly as she glanced from the road to Cassandra's face, who was looking very confused. After a few minutes of no response from Cass, heather spoke up again. "Someone spiked the sparkling punch you were serving..with Vodka"

Cassandra's eyes widened to the size of full moons and she twisted around in her chair to stare at me. "Oh god, I'll get arrested for under age drinking.."

Heather turned down the radio as we pulled up into a long driveway, which silenced garlic girl. The driveway looked to be the size of an actual road, surrounded by tall oak trees lined along both sides which were decorated with white lights.

The driveway took a sharp turn to the left and then there we were pulling up to the front of the large home. I could hear the music booming loudly from inside the truck.

"Are we ready for this?" Heather said, twisting around in her seat to eye us all.

Silently we all nodded in agreement and got out of the truck. The music coming from the house was even louder as we got closer. I had noticed that the second Nelson twin had caught up with Heather. They both walked ahead from the group, followed by garlic girl. Cassandra was on my left and Hunter was to my right.

"So, Heidi's party is going to be the shit, right? I mean it has to be.." Cassandra said unsurely as we walked closer to the very large and intimidating residence of Heidi.

"Of course it's going to be" I nodded and scanned the front lawn, a few people were sitting with red plastic cups in their hands. One girl was being held as she sobbed, the girl who was holding her was trying to coax her away from Heidi's property. I was guessing she had been told at the door that she wasn't allowed inside.

"Looks like someone's having a bad start to the night already.." Hunter said quietly.

"I think you mean a bad start and the end of her night.." I mumbled and Cassandra grunted in agreement.

As we neared the door, there were two buff men in all black attire who were perched on either sides of the door, as if standing guard.

"Names" barked one of the security men.

"Hunter, Heather, Zane, Cassandra." Heather said cheerfully, she was grinning from ear to ear and I noticed her clevage was ten times more viewable. But neither of the security were giving that any attention.

"You may enter, Enjoy" said the other security.

"That was an intense welcoming ritual" Hunter chuckled.

"Woah, Hunty Huntsman, don't use big words at a party like this, you'll get us kicked out" Cassandra said as she walked ahead.

"Wait, Cass, where are you going?" I asked her, my tone frantic. This entire night she was walking off and leaving me, when I thought we would spend it together, making fun of people and eat the crappy rich food snacks.

"I'm going to meet up with a friend, I'll find you guys, okay? So keep your phone on" Cassandra said as she grinned, turned and walked off.

I watched as she disappeared into the rather big crowd of people that was packed inside of the large room and sighed.

"Ooo, trouble in paradise?" I heard Hunter sarcastically say beside me. I rolled my eyes and then closing them, taking a deep breath. I would have a good time tonight at Heidi's party, maybe catch up with Cassandra later but in the mean time I was stuck with Hunter.

"I'm going to try and find the food and drink area, perhaps the kitchen because that's where food would be, right?" I turned to face Hunter and gave him my most sarcastic grin and tone.

"Such a Zane thing, finding the food at a social event quicker than recovering food addict at a buffet"

His sarcastic and bitchy tone made my blood boil, but I couldn't lose my cool at this party. I pushed through the crowds of people, heading in the direction I thought the kitchen would be in.

"Man, I'm atleast trying to fuck three latina girls tonight and maybe a white girl too.."

I picked up a plate and glanced over at the guy who had just spoken. He was dressed horribly; plaid shirt unbuttoned all the way and skinny jeans. Beside him his friend wore a wife beater and basketball shorts. They looked like a pair of dickheads. I picked up a few chocolate chip cookies, slice of cheese cake with Carmel, Carmel cinnamon apple slices and a taco from Taco Bell.

"Are you depressed?" I heard Hunter say, he was standing close behind me.

I turned to face him "Uh..No, why would I be?" I glanced down at my plate, realizing he was making a joke about all the food I had piled on. "You're an asshole" I turned and walked off towards the back of the house and away from the kitchen. I didn't care if Hunter followed me or if he went off and found some college dude to flirt with. I was more focused on finding a place where it was a bit more quiet, so I could pig out in peace. I headed in the direction where people had begun to thin out and I came upon a sliding balcony door. I tugged it open and headed outside, I heard it close behind me and I smiled. He had followed.

Outside there were four large tables, gigantic umbrellas hung over each one. I took a seat at one of the tables and eyed my plate.

"Can I ask you something?"

I glanced at Hunter and picked up an apple slice, popping into my mouth. "You just did"

"Not that I'm bothered by this, but you come to a party, get food and then come outside, away from people?"

"Look, just because I didn't come to this party and grind on you or worse, grinding on some sleazeball, doesn't mean you have to complain about every fucking thing I do here tonight. I got this much food because I'm hungry and I like to eat away from people, if that's a problem for you then please by all means go and find the guy that you were after earlier"

Hunter seemed to stiffen and he chuckled and pushed himself up from the table, his chair scraping loudly against the concrete. I watched as he turned his back to me and walk off, only to stop a few feet away.

"You should really learn to take a joke. But thanks for giving me permission to go and find someone who can. I'm hopeful I'll find someone mature." His words lashed out at me, his tone filled with anger, his words dripping disgust. He disappeared inside the house, not looking back once.
