Invitation.

I could barely believe it. I had gotten invited to Heidi's birthday party tonight. It happened after lunch when I was on my way to class, Nicolette Miller came up to me with her short short Jean shorts, bright pink top and long straight blonde hair.

"Hey, you're Zane.. right?" Nicolette pushed her hair back over her shoulder, she smiled big showing her straight white teeth. And of course any guy would find her beyond attractive, every guy but me.

I nodded and looked at Nicolette. "Yeah, I'm Zane"

"I'm Nicolette" she grinned "So, you should come to Heidi's party tonight, she wants lots of cute guys there" She handed me a black envelope which was held closed by a bright green Marijuana sticker. "Heidi wasn't going to have invites this year, but we made a list of people we defiantly wanted to come."

I half smiled and thanked her.

"And..you know if you see me at the party, don't be afraid to say hey" Nicolette waved and turned, throwing major ass around in her tight short shorts which got the attention of several guys standing nearby. I watched as their eyes went directly to Nicolette's ass, their eyes going wide as they whistled low at her and I stood there watching in partial disgust and disinterest. It wasn't that I didn't like women, because I did, just not in any other way besides friendship. In a way envied them because they could wear such cute outfits.. and what am I talking about I just got invited to a party!

As I headed to my locker, I pulled out my phone and logged into IM to see if Cassandra was online and she was.

I typed her a message: Holy shit. I just got personally hand picked to attend Heidi's party. Meet me in the parking lot by the stairs!

I got a few books out of my locker and slid them into my messenger bag. I slammed my locker door shut and as if on cue the bell rang through the school and students poured out into the hallway. I headed towards the school doors and out onto the parking lot black top. I chose a spot near the front of the stairs so I could be clearly visable and after a few minutes of looking around I spotted Cassandra standing a ways down from me.

"Cassandra!" I called out loudly, trying to get her attention away from her phone.

She looked up and headed towards me, her eyes were wide as she waved her arms and hands around in the air. "Holy shit, it's Zane Grant the personally invited boy on his way to school popularity!"

I started laughing and pushed her arms down to her sides. "Please, keep it down. You're always drawing unwanted attention towards us.."

"Well excuse me for being excited that you got invited to the Queen of all plastic barbie wannabes party! We can go and have a good time for a while, you know..make our appearance, show our faces and then.." suddenly her voice got deeper and more sadistic. sounding "..the real fun begins! We crash the hell out of it!"

I shook my head and reached to clamp my hand over her mouth. "Cass, calm down. We're not some eighth graders getting invited to a high school party.. We're high schoolers going to a party with more chill high schoolers and possibly college kids too. We need to be cool about this, okay?"

She nodded and pulled my hand down from her mouth and she smiled and I grinned, picturing a yellow bulb lighting up over her head, "So how about you go home and get ready and then drop by my house at like eight for a pre-party.. and then we'll all huddle up into the twin's pick up trucks and head to the rich part of town"

"You're having a pre party?" I asked, surprised that she was having a mini party of her own before the actual party.

She shrugged, "I mean.. it's more of a kick back type of thing. In my backyard, chips and salsa, cookies and slices of cheesecake, that type of thing. I invited a few people from school"

I nodded and my phone started to buzz. I fished it out of my pocket and 'Mom' flashed across the screen. She would be picking me up today and I had forgotten. "Hey, I've got to go, my mom's here to pick me up. Message me on IM."

She smiled at me and waved goodbye. I headed towards the opposite end of the parking lot, excited that I could be going to the greatest party of the year. I hadn't told Cassandra yet but I didn't know if I could go for sure because I hadn't asked my mom yet, I hadn't had the time. And as I looked around for my moms familiar SUV, I found myself searching for the familiar black high top sneakers with buckles around the top or the familiar leather jacket, grey eyes.. I was looking for Hunter. I hadn't seen him since this morning, he didn't even show up in class and he was no where to be found at lunch. It was like he was MIA, but it's not like I cared..I was pissed at him for acting cold towards me.
