Chapter 17

Kelly's P.O.V

At school on Monday Patrick captures me in a corner of the lunch hall. Fury is plain in his eyes. 'I can't believe you went on a date with Luke Green and you won't even give me a chance to explain' He says angrily. I sigh. 'Look Patrick you asked me out on a date right?. I was actually having a good time too. Then I find you kissing that that Lexi. Did you expect me to forgive you straight away. That ended there. That means we are no longer dating. Luke asked me out on a date. Okay?. I said yes and we had a pretty good time. That's my business. Not yours. I don't like you that way Patrick. I never will. Okay?' I say and stop for breath. An unreadable emotion flashes in his eyes and he turns and walks away. I sigh and go to find Sadie. I remember she's not in. Rats. I go and find my friend Kate instead. We walk round arm in arm until the bell rings. I start heading to class. Physics. Sitting beside Luke again. He comes in just as the second bell rings and slides in beside me. I smile at him and start taking down the notes. A note is passed to me. So Bored. Wanna play Hangman. I smile and stifle a giggle. I quickly scribble back Hangman?. How old are we?. He fakes being offended and I laugh quietly. I go back to taking down notes when another note is passed back to me. This time it says something completely different. Wanna go on a second date?. I'm shocked but I try to hide it. I scribble back yes. I go through the class without further distraction and manage to avoid Luke for the rest of the classes. I run out and see Kate going to her car. I run over to her and jump in. She laughs. 'I take it I'm dropping you home?' She asks and I nod, laughing. 'So what you doing for prom?' She asks me. I just shrug, prom is another three whole weeks away. I don't even have a dress yet, let alone a date. I tell Kate all this and she turns on her indicator and turns around. 'I haven't got mine either. YAY!. Dress shopping buddy!. We're going to shop now. Text Sadie and I'll phone my friend Fiona. She needs one too.' Kate says and I text Sadie and she says she'll meet us there. We stop at the first shop and Sadie and Fiona come up to us. An hour later and we're all still choosing.Sadie comes out in a baby blue dress with white rosebuds that flared to the ground in waves. We all stare at her. 'It's gorgeous' Fiona says. 'It's beautiful' Kate says. 'It's yours' I say and Sadie changes back. Kate then gets a light pink lace dress, simple up and down and suits her completely. Fiona gets a velvet green short dress with a bit of lace here and there. All the girls are sorted with their dresses. I simply just can't find the perfect one Just as we're about to leave a dress on the bargain rail catches my eyes. It's magenta, long and flowing with a lace up corset. It's gorgeous and when I hurry to the changing rooms it fits perfectly. It's perfect. I pay for it and get back into Kate's car. That's the dress, just the date to sort.
