Phil

I sat on Dan's bed, lazily curled around him watching him try to finish editing something, content with just resting my head on his chest and feeling it rise and fall with each breath he took. After a while, everything blurred, but I didn't mind. He had calming music on in the background, slowly lulling me to sleep. I watched his mouse cursor move along the screen, making adjustments and trying to perfect it. Not much longer, I found him setting his laptop aside, finally finished with the project. He ran his hands through my hair, and I answered in soft hums, cuddling closer to his side.

"What do you want to do today?"

"This," I responded, smiling contently into his side.

"What else?"

Looking around his room, I tried to think of something to do, but I was drawing a blank. Scanning the familiar room once more, my eyes focused on his piano. "Play me something," I whispered while trying to rearrange myself so that I could see his face.

"You know I'm not that good; I'd just embarrass myself. Plus I haven't learned anything new in a while, at least nothing you haven't already heard."

His eyes shifted away from mine and clouded over as he gazed into a fixed position in the distance. Seeing him like this made my heart hurt. He has such an amazing talent and I'm not just saying that because I'm dating him but he's literally wonderful. I could listen to him play all day, even if it was the same two notes over and over again.

"Stop that. You're amazing and I don't want to hear another negative word out of your mouth again. You play like an angel."

A small dimply smile returned to his face as he turned to me before rolling his eyes. "Fiiinnne, I'll play something," he muttered in defeat while beginning to roll out of bed.

Trying to grasp frantically to him before he got up, I whimpered in protest. "I wanted to continue cuddling though. Come back."

"Phil, I'm already half way out of bed- that's the most moving I've done all morning. Come on, we can go back to cuddling after." Grabbing my hand, he tugged me out of bed with him, leading me to the old piano.

He took his seat on the bench and I moved another chair closer to him so I could sit and watch. He took a deep breath, cracked his knuckles, and placed his fingers on the keys. After a moment of thought, he decided on his song of choice and began, his fingers moving gracefully from one key to another.

I sat mesmerized while watching him play. I love the way his body sways a bit after he gets used to it, how he loosens up and his shoulders fall ever so slightly, and his concentration face where he presses his lips together and his dimples appear slightly. Most of all, I love his playing. I don't know how to describe it really, but it's as if he plays his feelings through the keys. It's such a magical experience, and I wish he would never stop playing.

Once he finished, I immediately began clapping while he turned around slowly. "See I told you I was-"

"Shut up you're amazing," I interrupted before leaning in to shut him up with a kiss. After pulling apart, another idea popped into mind. "Can you teach me something?"

"What do you want to learn?"

"I don't know. Something easy I guess."

After a moment of consideration, his eyes lit up as he ushered me to sit next to him on the bench. "I almost forgot that I knew how to play this song, but it should be easy enough. We can play at the same time at first until you get used to it. I'll play an octave or two higher. Here, I'll play it first and then we'll break it into smaller parts."

Within four notes, I knew the song he had picked, rolling my eyes at the adorable dork. Of course he knew how to play Toxic by Britney Spears, that nerd. Stifling a giggle, I tried to remain calm during the lesson, but every once in a while a small giggle escaped past my lips.

"What's so funny? It's literally just Toxic."

"I know that but I don't know, it's like our iconic song and it's just really cute that you know how to play it."

"Shut up," he murmured, blushing slightly.

"No. You're adorable."

"I hate you."

"You love me."

"Yeah, I do."
