What's Hot

By Kayley Brady (TedSweeranLove)

This Week's Genre: FanFiction

I was browsing through the What's Hot category today, and I came across a few FanFictions that actually weren't cliché. Most FanFictions are the usual love-at-first-sight or kidnapping, and these were very good, so I decided to share them with you.

Masquerade (Liam Payne)

by Bel Watson

{book 5} - Meet Liam, the good boy, always pleasing everyone, the one who takes care of everything. AKA, Daddy Direction. Now meet Tammy, rockstar in the rising, rebel, tough and even rude, someone who is capable of everything to achieve her dreams. But what happens when these two opposites collide?

This caught my eye immediately. It was the second thing I saw on the What's Hot list, and I absolutely love Bel Watson's works. So, I scanned through it a bit, and it wasn't cliché at all. There was a good plot, and it wasn't boring. This book is fifth in a series she has, and so I suggest that you read the preceding stories before this one; because believe me, when I read it, I didn't really understand what was going on. Otherwise it was good, it was original, and it really deserved to be on the What's Hot list.

Bitter & Sassy (Louis Tomlinson)

by Bel Watson

{book 4} - All women are the same. One day they say they love you, that they are gonna be with you forever; the next they meet someone else, someone who can be with them when they need it, someone who shares their world. And then they tell you "but we can still be friends." Yeah, you know what I think of that? F*** you. That's what I think.

I was scanning through the list again, and then I found this. It was another of Bel Watson's stories, so why not? But I pretty much stopped reading after the fourth or fifth chapter. I sort of lost interest, to be honest, and I don't like the characters. In my opinion, Louis is way too rude to this one girl, and the girl was very awkward and quirky. There weren't any grammar errors, as I see it, and the story itself wasn't cliché, I just didn't like the plot and the characters. A lot of people like this, but in my opinion, I do not recommend it.

Paparazzi (One Direction)

Yeah, yeah, us paparazzi have the bad messages and bad reputations. But you know what? It really depends on who you're pointing out. The paps who take their job way to seriously? The paps who are just plain out rude or nasty? Or the paps who just feel they should do their job properly. And that's me, Noelle. I fit in that one last category. But what happens when one assignment changes everything? One Direction. I never appreciated them, nor did I ever acknowledge their presence in the world no matter how popular and famous they were. What happens if I actually.. Get noticed and pulled out of that group of misfits? Or should I say, the group of 'losers'. It's all One Direction's fault.. And I was just doing my job.. I, Noelle Hallick, just had her life changed.. By five ridiculous boys.

At first by looking at the title I thought that this was going to be some cliché book about a girl meeting One Direction by getting trapped in paparazzi or something, but the summary changed my whole thought of that. It was actually an impressive story; I have never actually seen a book with this plot before, ever. That is one of the main reasons I liked it. It had good descriptions, but they weren't too long in that you would get bored, or such short ones that you can't even understand what is happening, it was just right and balanced, which I always look for in a book. It had a good amount of dialogue, and I really liked the characters. I definitely recommend this book!

Adopted

by Elounor

Alex had no idea that when she entered a contest to spend a day with Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, that she would actually win. But when Louis catches Alex's stepdad, Chad, in the act of abusing the young girl, he knows he can't leave her... So him and Eleanor decide to take her with them on One Direction's tour and let her live with them in a safe home. Alex instantly connects with the boys, and soon starts to fall for a certain curly haired boy and Irish Snowflake. But will Louis, who sees Alex as his own daughter, let those crushes go any further? Or will he refuse to let them grow strong feelings for each other? Will Harry and Niall compete to win over Alex? What happens when one boy wants Alex to stay innocent, and the other is the exact opposite? What about Chad? Will he let Louis and Eleanor take his step daughter, aka punching bag, away from him? Find out in 'Adopted By Elounor'.

Okay, the concept of adoption that people use in fan fictions is weird and cliché, so when I saw this I thought it was probably time for another bad review. However, as I got deeper into the summary, I started to think it didn't sound half bad, since there was a good reason that she had to be adopted by the couple and it wasn't just because she didn't have any parents and was an orphan. Of course, that's a good reason, but it's overused. Luckily, when I started reading, it seemed like a regular FanFiction, which quite pleased me. Sure, I'd rather have it different from the others (even though it sort of already is), but it's much better than Elounor treating her like she's really their daughter. But overall, from the first couple chapters I read, it was pretty good.

So as you can tell, I make a big deal out of cliché and unoriginal books, but hey. I like to read different books.

But fan fiction is most likely the most cliché genre there is on Wattpad though, which is why I chose it first, since I was expecting some bad reviews, yet I was surprised. There are some really good, original authors on here that I'd never even heard of, and there were tons more good ones in the What's Hot list, so I really suggest you go take a look there now. :)
