Article #1
What's hot right now in the music scene? Selena Gomez's newest hit 'Come & Get It', Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines', Britney Spears' recent song ready for 'The Smurfs 2' debut called 'Ooh La La', and Miley Cyrus' newest song 'We Can't Stop'. But what's the hottest this month?
In personal opinion, I automatically fell in love with 'Blurred Lines' By Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell immediately. Robin Thicke is a 35 year old R&B singer and the recent song 'Blurred Lines' has to be his best song/hit to date. Pharrell also appearing aside Thicke in the song, recently broke out into the music scene featured on the long awaited return of Daft Punk with their song 'Get Lucky'. This song has to be the hottest. The video, though, is probably the most risky I've seen. The clean version posted on Thicke's vevo on youtube features three different girls prancing about it a lack of clothing. The restricted version is on Vevo's website and features the same girls but completely nude except for a tiny pair of nude coloured panties. Maybe I'm being a prude. Tell us what you think of Thicke's new song in the comments!
What about Miss Spears newest song 'Ooh La La'? With the childish rhythmic feel, it's unlike her past songs which were more 'adult' as she jumped about in skimpy clothing with bass beats crashing from the speakers. Her usual innocent yet sexy attire in previous video's such as 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' and 'Oops I Did It Again' was traded for an appropriately lengthier red flowing dress. The lyrics are moderately clean apart from one exception in the chorus- to be expected as it's featured in a kid's movie. The video has several appearances of computerised smurfs and the movies villains. The song doesn't have any relation to the smurfs from what I see and just appears to be a sweet little love song. I recommend the song for previous Britney fans and those who like lighter soft songs. Is this Britney's way of showing us she's changing? Is the old Britney back? Tell us in the comments!
Selena Gomez is really breaking out of those Disney roots now, isn't she? About time! It's not a latest release but it's only recently made itself known to me and boy do I love it. The Indian themed music is a different take and while risky that people wouldn't like it, it appears to work amazingly. While appearing moderate in the video, she succeeds in looking sexy in the red 'hobo' styled dress. What does let this song down, however, is the lack of good lyrics. The lyrics are very repetitive and don't give us anything other than the repetitive yet catchy 'when you're ready come and get it na na na na' and a few other verses that are easily forgotten due to the chorus that seems to super glue itself into our heads. She's definitely not that little girl anymore who first hit it big on Disney channels 'Wizards of Waverly Place', good on you, Selena! How do you like this 'new' Selena?
Causing a ton of controversy, yet another Disney kid that breaks our expectation. Due to this song, Miley is apparently on a break from her fiancé Liam Hemsworth - Gale from The Hunger Games - because of her naughty behaviour. Her voice is as powerful as ever in this song, it's catchy and nothing like she's ever produced before. This video features her new 'rebel' appearance - bleached blonde hair that's cut extremely short. She's being labelled a slut and whore for the video which we see her twerking - an American dance craze - and slapping several females butts. The video is actually considerable tame, though, in comparison to others out there (I hope you're listening, 'Blurred Lines'). The song is generally about not caring, letting the fun take over and enjoying yourself which she appears to be doing. So far as of yet she still doesn't care what others think of her latest song as she hasn't had what we've seen in the past as a 'mental breakdown'. Her father a while ago supposedly disowned Miley and divorced her mother due to Miley's past fame adventures a few years back when she starred as 'Hannah Montana'. This is yet another rift in Miley's life and maybe this song and her change in appearance is her way of coming out strong, she doesn't care and she's going to party on? Maybe it's her way of coping.
That's all for this month. What songs do you love? Tell us and we might feature it in next month's article of 'Turn Up The Music'!
