Chapter 28

*First person pov*

Armin ran out of the smoke, freaking everyone out. The soldiers drew their weapons. "YOU FINALLY SHOWED YOUR TRUE COLORS, YOU MONSTER!! I'LL GIVE THE SIGNAL TO FIRE, YOU HEAR ME!?" The commander yelled. "He's not an enemy of humanity!! We're willing to disclose every piece of information we've gained!!!" Armin shouts. "I'M NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO YOU BEGGING FOR YOUR LIVES!! IT'S TOO LATE FOR THIS!! WE'VE ALREADY SEEN WHAT YOU REALLY ARE!! YOU SAY HE'S NOT AN ENEMY, BUT YOU'VE YET TO SHOW ME ANY PROOF OF THAT!! IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT, THE WE'LL JUST ELIMINATE HIM AND THE THREAT HE POSES!!" The commander yelled. "There's no need for proof!! It doesn't matter whether we see him as an ally or an enemy!!" Armin yelled. "Say what!?" Commander yelled. "You said there's loads of eyewitnesses!! Then they should've also seen him fighting the titans!! And they would've seen the titans ganging up on him!!! Which means the titans see him the same way they do us: as prey!!! We can rack our brains as much as we like, but it's not going to change that fact!!" Armin yelled, providing proof. The soldiers whisper among themselves. "He's right..." "The titan's on our side?" "It can't be..." Slowly, they lowered their weapons without realizing it. The commander looked like he was considering it, but he was still a coward and put his hand up. "Prepare to attack!!! Don't fall for their tricks!!! Their actions will forever be beyond our comprehension!! Don't you see?! They can turn into humans!! Speak our language!!! And deceive all of us!!! We can't let them have their way any longer!!!!" Commander yelled, causing the soldiers raise their weapons again. Armin looked like he was loosing hope. Armin turned back towards us, scared. We just stood there smiling and we nodded. Armin grits his teeth and turns back around. He brought his fist up to his heart and saluted. "I'M A SOLDIER, SWORN TO GIVE EVERYTHING I HAVE FOR THE SAKE OF MANKIND'S REVIVAL!!! NOTHING WILL MAKE ME HAPPIER THAN DYING FOR THAT CAUSE!!! IF WE COMBINE HIS TITAN POWERS WITH OUR REMAINING FORCES, THE RECAPTURE OF THIS TOWN COULD BE WITHIN OUR GRASP!!! FOR MANKIND'S GLORY, I WILL USE WHAT LITTLE TIME I HAVE LEFT, TO VOUCH HIS TACTICAL WORTH TO US!!!!" Armin yelled. Everyone was stunned. "Commander Weirman, I think we should consider-" "QUIET!!!" The commander cuts off a soldier. The commander raises his hand, and all of our eyes widened. Me and Mikasa reach for our blades, Eren brings his hand up to bit it, and the cannon starts to reload. It was like a race. Commander brings his arm down, but his hand gets stopped by none other than Commander Pixis. "Stop it. You may be grand in stature, but I see you're still as feeble-minded as ever." Commander Pixis said as he brought the commander's hand down. "Commander Pixis!" the commander said in shock. Commander Pixis stepped up. "Can you not see that boy's magnificent salute? I only just got here, but I was informed of the situation on the way. You go take command of the reinforcements. I get the feeling I should listen to what these kids have to say." Pixis announced. Armin falls to his knees, tears of happiness and relief in his eyes. "Ah... what a relief." I said as I fall on my back.

Time skip~

Commander Pixis brought us up onto the wall to talk. He was drinking wine like the drunkard he is... remind me why he was Commander again? Eren starts explaining what he has in mind on what he wants to do. "I see... Going to that basement will help you figure out everything, you say?" Pixis asked, his back turned to us. "Yes. Will you believe me?" Eren asked Pixis. "You don't seem too convinced of it yourself, so I guess the most I can say is that I'll keep it in my mind." Pixis said as he looks back and pokes his brain. "However, I believe I'm capable of getting to the bottom of everything. As such, I guarantee your safety." Pixis said as he turns fully back around to us. We sigh in relief that we're going to be permanently safe. "Cadet Arlert, was it?" Pixis asked. "Y-Yessir!" Armin said, standing up straight. "You said earlier that by using his titan powers, we might be able to recapture this town. Do you really believe that? Or did you say that just to save your skins?" Pixis asked Armin. "That was... It was both. Back then, I was trying to say that Eren can turn into a titan and carry that massive rock to the destroyed gate, closing the breach. It was something I just came up with... So that people would believe that Eren's power had the potential to get us out of this mess." Armin explained of his plans. Pixis turned around, humming in deep thought. "Of course, I wanted to be save with all my heart... but..." Armin trailed off. "'With all your heart,' huh? Those are the most trustworthy words." Pixis said as he got his wine out and took a big gulp. He sighed in content then turned around to Eren. "What about it, Cadet Jeager?" Pixis said as he crouched down to Eren, who was sitting on the floor. "Yes?" Eren asked. "Can you block that hole?" Pixis asked Eren. "That's... I'm not really sure. Right now, my guess is good as all yours. So regardless whether I can do it or not, it would be irresponsible to answer you right now." Eren answered. "Yeah, you're right. My apologies. I asked the wrong question. Will you give it a shot, or not? Which is it?" Pixis asked Eren, seriously. Eren turned to look behind wall rose then back at Pixis. "I'll do it. I'll do it! I don't know if I can block that hole, but I'll give it a shot!"
