Die Greatly

There comes a time
In everyones life
Where they become
Old
Wrinkled
Gray
Its a natural thing
That's supposed to occur
But if it was natural
Why do we struggle so hard to get that way?
We go through life
Fighting and battling
To get to a point
Where our last days
Are spent
Wasting away
Slowly and quietly
In a bed

Peacefully
It's called
But I'd rather be taken out in my prime
To be remembered in my greatest time
Not in the weak state I remained
There's nothing peaceful
About struggling to breathe
Fighting to die
Wishing for it
But never getting there
Spending the years leading up to your death
Attempting to live
Only to have
The last few second your life
Spent gasping the words
"Let me die"

No
No
No

Take me out in my prime, dear Death
Strike me down in my greatest moment
Don't let me live greatly
Only to let me die poorly
I want to die greatly
Give me a glorious ending
So I may go down in flames
Just don't make me waste away

Shoot me down
Like a majestic eagle
As it flies
Strike me with your sword
For I'm a knight
In my gleaming armor

Peaceful isn't my style
Tragic is my thing
So don't let me waste away
Let me die greatly
