Rumbling, grumbling, grinding of wheels
Red and blue sirens hot at my heels
I make a quick change and cut through the street
With a turn of the wheel in the front driver's seat
The sweat runs down my face and I wipe it away
With the back of my hand, "God help me," I pray
I adjust the mirror and glance through the back The cop's right behind me, hot on my track
I come to a sudden halt with the screeching of brakes
As mother opens the door, grabbing me she takes
Me out, she speaks and puts me down
"Get out of the car. No more playing around!"
I cross my arms over my chest and pout
"But Mommy, but Mommy! I don't wanna get out!"
She looks down at me a gives me a grin
"That's enough fun for one day; it's time to go in."
I sigh for I know there's no changing her mind
But tomorrow I know that I'll certainly find
Her sitting there in the same seat I was
Turning the key making the engine buzz
I watch for a minute from behind the window
She can drive any day in rain, sleet, or snow
But I have to wait for a much longer time
And until that day all I can do is rhyme
About the adventures I'll have, driving away
Oh how I can't wait for that very special day
