City of Bombs

oh how she weeps
her broken torch, snuffed out
as her green gazes across the sea
a homeland lit aflame
what once were lights of love and song
now burst with fire and rage
oh how she weeps
for her city
crying out in pain
she watches as they load
powder their guns
and aim across the land
a hand reaches up to her eyes
book thudding against the surface of the sea
sinking beneath in the somber
and from between the cracks in her fingers
her city of lights
goes to war
