Little Things

It's the little things in life that mean the most
Things that are never praised with a toast
It's not about the big trophy we won
Or the house we've got worth a ton
It's the joy of the game
With the memories gained
And the fact when it rains
We're not wet with our pains
It's the tiny things which we miss
That give life it's sweet bliss
Like the sun in the morn'
For each day it's born
Or the stars with their light
As they brighten each night
It's the shoes that you walk in
Or the cell phone you talk in
Small things like stranger's smiles
Or clean public bathroom tiles
It's the greet
you always meet
When you arrive somewhere new
Using words that are true
It's the sign that says "welcome"
And the spoon that you eat from
It's the loud laugh someone's got
And the old man that's not
Wasting away
On his holiday
A lone on his couch
Like old Scrooge the grouch
It's a baby's tiny fingers
Or musical singers
It's the smell of a flower as it reaches our nose
And how could we forget? It's all ten of our toes
It's a beautiful garden all filled with it's greens
But maybe the most valued of all little things
Is the fact that each day
We can wake up and say
"I've been given a chance"
"To take this day and enhance"
"The world that I live in"
"With the life I've been given"
So stop to look now
At the little things, and how
They affected your day
Then slowly begin to say
"Thank you little things for all that you do"
"To make my life better, I very much love you"
