  • Dedicated to Lily, my first family pet

Sweet little puppy all new
Round and chubby are you
As you jump over each blade of grass
As eat all the leftovers from my trash
When you sleep you kick and grunt
Keeps me up all night "that little runt"
Wagging your curly, black tail
As you rip up the bills and mail
Prancing around on your little paws
And whining when we trim your claws
Looking up at me with your big brown eyes
You say you'll be good–little doggie lies
You jump on me with on big bound
And give me kisses all around
You growl at me when I take your toy
I give you a treat–oh what joy!
When mom isn't looking I'll give you some food
She says feeding doggies is really quite rude
But I can't help it
Not one little bit
You are the first baby I've had
You've made me quite glad
I love to rub your belly
It's big and all jelly
But that's okay
I still love you anyway
Walks are not fun
Because you want to run
Halfway round the block
To the end of my clock
Then you stop and you pee
On every little tree
You will guard my house
From a big thing or a mouse
Your breath smells of mold
I can tell you getting old
So I'll try every day
To spend time in anyway
To show you how much
I love you, Lily
