My mind was blowing like hell.
"Is there something I can do? I can't control my powers yet, but there must be something."
Gina shook her head. "You're in hands of the Royals. I don't think there's a safer place on earth."
"But what if they fail again? They did last time."
"That was different. Now we're prepared, you know. We know what's going on."
I sighed, but nodded. "You're probably right. Demi and Nick are taking care of them now, it'll all be fine."
She smiled. "For sure. Now, did you already meet some of your witch-family? And what about the vampires?"
I shook my head. "The only vampires I've met are Demi and Nick. You two are the only witches I know. Oh, and Avery and her kids. They're sweet."
"Well, sounds like it's time for some fun, then. Wanna meet some witches? We live not far from here."
I thought about it. I didn't know if Demi would approve, but she wasn't here, so she wouldn't notice if I just came back on time. "Sure, sounds great."
We were walking in some old village when suddenly I heard lots of people talking. It was already really late since we left the Royals mansion at 2 AM.
"They're still awake?" I asked Evan.
He smiled. "They knew you were coming."
"How? Their witchy stuff powers?"
"I call it instinct. Guess both terms fit."
I looked at the group of people. I guess there were hundred of them here, maybe more.
"Are they all witches?" I whispered and looked at Gina.
She nodded. "Stop shaking, love. They're all on your side."
I just looked when a little girl came running to me and spread her tiny arms to hug my leg. But before she could reach me, she tripped. I caught her just in time and lifted her so she was in my arms right now.
"Oh hello there, pretty girl. What's your name?" I said to her.
She smiled. "I'm Anna. And I know you."
"Well, I just heard about that all. It's a sad story, isn't it?"
She nodded. "But you're still here. You need to use your powers to safe us all, just like Isabelle. You are our leader."
I swallowed and put her back on the ground. Too scared to face the crowd of witches, I turned to the little girl. "I don't know how to... I can't. I have never used any power before."
There were two ladies standing in front of the crowd. Long black hair, black dressed, lots of bracelets, rings and necklaces, and a pale skin. I guess they were in their forties, and they still looked beautiful. Seriously, only their looks alone made you feel powerless.
Gina stood right next to me. "They're the strongest witches here. They'll teach you", she said. "I know it's freaking you out, because you've never seen someone using their magic. But, don't be scared. Evan and I will stay with you."
I looked at Evan who nodded in agreement. Their presence made me feel a lot better. I smiled at them and then walked to the ladies. Each of them held one hand of mine and suddenly there was light all over the place. It was beautiful. I saw everyone. All the witches, they seem so kind. The light was suddenly only around me, I just noticed it, but before I could have a better look, it was already gone.
"What was that?" I whispered, a bit shocked.
"It was a sign. You're reunited with the witches again", one of the ladies said.
I just nodded and then smiled proudly. "That's so cool, right?" I sounded more happy and enthusiastic that I practically looked like some little kid.
The lady smiled. "It's something very special, for sure. Now everyone go home to rest. So you can have your sleep too. You must be very tired."
Before I could answer I yawned. "A little, yes."
I woke up the next day with several people looking at me.
"Do you really think it's her?" I heard a lady say. "She doesn't really look like she's from the eighteenth century."
I smiled and opened my eyes. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Gina and Evan walked into the room and practically pushed me out of bed and took me to a big room where the two ladies were.
"It's great meeting you."
I smiled. "I'm thankful to be here." I said. I really was though.
"I'm Laressa, this is Christina. We protect this city together. We're the oldest witches here. At least, not as old as you, but we're from the twentieth century."
I nodded. "So, can you teach me how to..."
"-use your magic, love? Of course. Just before we start, you need to be free from everything that's bothering you", she said. "People, memories, everything."
"There's nothing, really."
"You're lying, I can feel it. There's someone. I just can't see who it is. It's someone who needs to talk to you, now. I can't fight it. It's way too strong."
Her serious tone made me panic, really bad. I was shaking by now and couldn't keep my eyes open.
First, everything got hazy, then it all I went black.
"When you've used it, it will stay with you forever. You can't fight what's inside of you. You need to learn to deal with it. Find them and bring back the peace, Alena. I'll be with you."
I heard the whispering voice disappear and I found myself on an old wooden bed, Laressa right at my side.
"What happened?" I asked.
Laressa seemed to be in a shock.
Suddenly Christina spoke to me. "You died."
I swallowed.
"But someone brought you back to life. Obviously, this world needs you. Now more than ever."
