I knew what was coming. This wasn't the first time she had bitten me like that. Most of the times it ended with her talking to me and me being alone for a few days, sometimes even weeks. I could only feed from her to survive, ending with her leaving me every time. At least, until I crawled back to her and would beg her to stay.

Now she was acting hurt because I had used her name while roasting Nick. This might not have been the smartest thing to do, but let's not act like she has never done anything worse than that.

She pushed me onto her bed. My bath robe hanging loose around my body as she walked over to the window.

"You really need to grow up if you can't handle that." I scoffed. I was annoyed by her attitude.

I might be strong at that school, but oh did I know my chances when it came to fighting Demi, vampire or not.

Every time I had thought to have a shot in whatever was happening, she had made me regret even trying in the first place. She could make you feel like you were dying by just turning her hands in a certain way with the right spell.

She shot me an angry look. "I'm not the one who got myself almost suspended in the first week of a new school." She raised her eyebrow at me.

I sighed. She did not have to act like she was my mother. And to set the record straight, as far as I was concerned, I saved my ass pretty quickly for that matter. "But I didn't because I fix my problems when they're there."

She scoffed at me. "Just like you did when you felt left out. You made the wise choice to not fight all those students when they wanted you to."

"So you're letting me go to a thousand trainings and when it comes in handy for me, I'm not allowed to use it to my advantage. Why are you even bothered with whom I'm fighting?"

"Because you shouldn't use your powers for show offs like that, try to use it on something that'll actually matter some day."

I snickered. "Like you let me. Every time the slightest form of danger appears, you lock me up or send me away to some training camp.
And for what it's worth, what do you think I've been doing all these months? Didn't Ms. D tell you I reached that goddamn level? Isn't that all you fucking care about?"

"Why do you think we need you to reach that goddamn level?" I didn't think she could sound any angrier but she just did.

I didn't want to say anything, scared for her to explode. She must have noticed because her voice sounded more concerned than mad when she told me, "There's a war coming. And I need you to be ready for it."

I looked at her but she didn't seem to be joking. I could not quite comprehend what she meant by that.

"A war? Against the werewolves you mean?"

"Isabelle's leading them and they're not backing down."

The image of Isabelle with an army of hundreds of werewolves made me shiver.
"What do they want?"

She made straight eye contact with me which was freaking me out. Her dark eyes burning into mine. "Not what, who. They want you."

I thought about it. "Why can't she just let it go? She sent me away a lifetime ago."

"After all, you are her daughter. You have the same powers. If she has you, she might as well be the most powerful creature ever existing."

"I've never been a daughter, only a sister. And I'm planning on keeping it like that."

Demi nodded. "Isabelle didn't make many right choices back then, but there was one though decision she did make wisely. Giving you to the Royals is what saved your life."
