I was still shivering when I felt hands on my cold skin."Alena? Is that you?" I heard a ladies' voice.
I looked behind me and saw a tall, beautiful woman in front of me. "Isabelle?"
She smiled at me. "Alena, you've grown into a beautiful young lady."
I didn't know what to say. Many thoughts were going through my head right now. This was the most powerful witch. Who lived two decades ago. And was my mother. Oh, my God.
Isabelle giggled. "Don't be nervous, after all, we're family right?"
I looked at her. "Yeah, so I've heard."
"Well, I'm here for a reason. In a few weeks, you will go to the west coast and meet the Royals. Since they and I don't have the best history, I need your full commitment when I ask you this."
I nodded, not really sure where this was going.
"When you're there. I want you to go to the highest floor. You'll find my old room. Search for my book and you'll know exactly where to find me."
"I don't know if I can...."
"Don't waste your time while doing so. Time is a precious thing, my child."
Before I could ask any more questions she was gone.
My eyes widened and I was lying on a stone cold ground.
I looked at the wall and draw another tally mark with my nail on it.
Isabelle wanted me to find her old room while I can't even find a way out of my own.
Nine days have passed since I got here.
Nothing was here.
No windows.
No light.
No bed.
No food.
I was very surprised about this one since people aren't supposed to live that long without drinking or eating anything.
No warmth.
The only company I had was the coldness. And my witch mother from the eighteenth century visiting.
For Gods' sake. If everyone here really did admire their 'last Royal', then why did they get me locked up in a space like this?
I screamed. Like I had done the first three days but then gave up.
"DEMI GET ME THE FUCK OUT OF THIS NOW. I'M DYING!!!"
No answer. I growled. "Nick, I swear if you hear me right now and you don't help me, I'm never gonna speak to you for the rest of my life."
None of what I was saying seemed to be heard. Nor taken into account since I was still here in the dark.
"Oh, and by the way Demi, this place is just as dark as your soul. And I didn't think that would be even possible to find."
Even though she couldn't hear me right now, I was feeling better by screaming at her. It may be mean, but she is being worse. You can't just lock anyone up for days when you can't win an argument.
----
I could hear my heartbeat raising.
My breathing was shallow. My lungs trying to get enough oxygen out of the thin air.
Slowly I could open my eyes and from what I could see I noticed I was with Demi.
I could feel some liquid falling from my lips.
Blood.
"What the h-.." I tried to get out of her strong grip but it didn't even have a bit of effect.
"Keep still."
"No, what are you doing?"
"You weren't supposed to wake up. When I'm finished with this, you're going back."
"No De--..." Before I could finish my sentence I felt into a deep sleep.
---------
I woke up.
The same cold ground.
Surrounded by the same darkness.
But finally, I had some knowledge about what was going on.
Demi had been keeping me alive by giving me blood during my sleep.
I remembered her using the mind compulsion.
She never did that to me.
Usually only to others.
She made me drink her blood when I wasn't allowed to see her.
She made me quiet when I wanted to scream.
She made me sleep when I wanted to run for my life.
She was in control and I did not like it at all.
Especially because that was not even all of it.
She made me miss her.
She made me craving. For her.
