Aly's POV
Demi and Avery came walking downstairs.
They looked much less stressed than before which made me feel more comfortable.
Avery walked over to me and looked at me.
'So, you're the Royal girl everyone has been talking about. Must be quiet... overwhelming.'
'Hm, that's an understatement. The only thing I know now is the story about the Royals. They seem so powerful and imagining to be one of them is just...' I didn't really know how to express myself.
'Strange?' She asked.
'Yeah, I guess that fits.'
She smiled and I looked at the three kids.
'So, these are your kids?'
The smile on her face grew immediately bigger.
'Yes they are. I assume they already talked to you.'
I nodded. 'They have. They're really cute.'
She handed me the littlest girl over who wrapped her little legs around me.
We went to the living room and sat down.
'So, how's life with Dems so far?'
Demi looked up from the little girl she was talking to and our eyes locked for a second.
'Different, for sure. Nothing's like it used to be. I mean the people, the house...'
She nodded. 'I'm sure Demi will take good care of you. And otherwise, you're always welcome here, the girls would love to see you again, and so do I.'
I heard someone walking inside. A guy, not much older than Aly, greeted us.
'Aly, this is Matt, my boyfriend. Matt, this is Aly.'
We both said hi, then he went to Demi to give her a hug and afterwards kissed Aly on her lips.
'You guys seem busy. I'll just take the girls out....' Matt said.
'Don't worry about that, Matt. We were just about to leave', Demi said. 'This girl and I need to have a little chat about something.'
Shocked I looked at Avery, but she shook her head, motioning it'll all be fine. I smiled and then we left, back home.
'She's really nice', I said, when Demi and I were back on the road.
'Yeah, she is. She seemed to like you, which surprised me.'
I looked at Demi. 'What do you mean?'
'Usually, she doesn't like the people I bring with me. In fact, she hates them. But you two seem to get on well.'
'I hope so. I think she's a really sweet girl. In contrary to the one who raised her..'
Demi glared at me, taking her eyes off the road. 'I don't see why people like you.'
I giggled. 'Same for you, ma'am. Same for you.'
Demi parked the car and as soon as I could I walked to the library where Evan was, of course.
'Hey, Daniels!'
He greeted me with a hug and I sat down next to him.
'What are you doing?' I asked. Looking at his work in front of him what looked like some cool math stuff in the witch version.
'School, it's for my math.'
Guess I wasn't that wrong.
'You do this for school? How old are you?'
Thank God that sounded like a serious question and not as an insult.
'I'm a teacher, for your information.'
I made an o-shape with my mouth and smiled.
'I just met Demi's daughter. Avery, you know her?'
When I said that he dropped his pencil. I swear I heard him cuss under his breath.
'Avery Jonas? You met her?'
I nodded.
'She's the only Royal-daughter. Every boy wants to date that girl.'
I giggled. 'Too bad, she already has a boyfriend. No need to mention, they seemed madly in love.'
He shrugged. 'Too bad, indeed. But if you don't mind, I need to finish this. School's about to start in a week.'
I nodded. 'Of course. Good luck with that!'
He smiled. 'Thanks, and you with Demi. I'm sure it'll be fine.'
'Thanks.' I left the library and walked upstairs to Demi's study. Two girls walked out of the study and looked at me.
'Miss Roberts, miss Lovato wants to speak to you.'
I nodded. 'I know. I was already on my way.'
They both nodded and left.
Before I opened the door I took a deep breath.
I was just about to knock when I heard Demi's voice from inside.
'Come in.'
'Y-you wanted me to come...'
She nodded. She was wearing her glasses what made her look a little older. There was no Nick in the study so I guess she really just wanted to talk alone.
'So, what's up?' I sat down on the chair in front of her desk.
Demi's eyes were all serious and I could feel the tension in the air.
