You and Brad had been friends for a year or so now and to say you fancied him was an understatement. Most of the time, he was all you could think about but the thought of him liking you back had never crossed your mind, so when Brad asked you on a date you stood there in shock for a couple of seconds. You couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth and you quickly saw his face drop and a look of fear spreading across it.
"Sorry, sorry... Yes... Of course I would - I would love to go on a date with you, yes." You grinned, trying to play it cool but failing miserably... Typical.
The look of fear immediately disappeared from Brad's face and was replaced with his grin from before.
"Brilliant, I'll text you tonight and we can arrange a day?"
That was 4 days ago and tonight was the night of the date. Brad had booked a fancy restaurant for you two to have dinner at, before going to see a late-showing of a new movie that was just released.
The word 'nervous' couldn't come close to what you were feeling right now, but you were excited too. Finally you were going on a date with Brad, you just hoped that your imagined version of him wouldn't overshadow the real him.
-
You were slipping into your shoes when you heard a knock at the door, before you could even stand up your room mate ran past you from the kitchen.
"I'll get it for you!" She smirked, heading towards the door, making you laugh and roll your eyes. She always did this when you had a date, Brad was no exception to her 'check over' even though she knew him already.
You heard the door being unlocked before Brad and your room mate exchanged "hello"s before they walked through to the living room, where you were standing putting your jacket over your dress.
"Oh my god, Y/N. You look absolutely gorgeous." Brad muttered, looking you up and down before smiling and his eyes landing on your face.
"Thank you, you look very handsome." You smiled back, trying not to freak out too much over how good he actually looked. His hair was slightly pushed back into a quiff and he was wearing a white shirt with black jeans and his black Docs.
"Thank you. Are we ready to go?" Brad grinned, reaching to take your hand.
Just as you were about to say yes, your room mate let out a loud cough which made you both turn to face her.
"I always do this with Y/N's dates and you're no exception, Bradley... So, get ready for the toughest interview of your life." She smirked, sitting down on the couch and making him sit down next to her.
"Please can we not do this, Y/R/M/N. We really need to go... Plus you know Brad." You laughed, shaking your head.
"It's fine, Y/N... How bad can it be?" Brad laughed, nodding at your room mate for her to start with the questions.
-
Half an hour later and you and Brad hadn't left for the restaurant yet. The questions had turned into your room mate telling Brad embarrassing stories about you and you cringing on the other couch. Just as Brad was clutching his sides from something hilarious he'd just been told you looked over at the clock on the wall.
"Oh my god, it's 7.30 Brad, we're gonna miss the reservation." You sat up. Brad immediately stopped laughing and looked at the clock.
"Shit." He mumbled. "We better go now, it'll take 20 minutes to get there."
"I'm sorry, guys. I didn't mean to ruin your night." Your room mate apologised.
"No it's fine, it was fun... Apart from the embarrassing stories." You laughed, giving her a hug as you and Brad walked to the door.
-
You were surprised at how well the date was going. You and Brad got along so well and even though you were friends before and knew a lot about each other you still found new things to talk about. You even learned some new things about Brad, that you didn't know before.
"I've had a really nice time tonight with you, Y/N." Brad smiled as you were walking out of the cinema and towards his car.
"I've had an amazing time too." You grinned back, as he opened your side of the car before waiting for you to get in. You gave him a thankful smile and got in before he shut the door and walked round to his side.
"I was thinking, if you wanted to, that we could maybe do it again? Like a second date?" Brad asked, looking nervous.
"Of course, I would love a second date." You smiled, putting your hand on top of his which was resting on the gear stick. Brad looked down at your hands before looking up at you and giving you a small smile.
Brad drove you back to your apartment and once he arrived outside the door you suddenly felt nervous again.
"Thank you for the lovely date Brad... And thank you for driving me home." You smiled, reaching to take off your seat belt.
"No problem, I woudn't have made you walk," Brad laughed, making you laugh slightly, nodding. "But thank you, as well, for a lovely date."
"My pleasure." You grinned. You were unable to keep the smile off your face, but you weren't complaining about it... You loved how Brad made you feel.
"So, I'll speak to you later I guess?" Brad muttered slightly, looking like he was upset that the night was coming to an end... You couldn't blame him, you felt the exact same.
"Yeah, just text me whenever you want. Or come round, or anything. I don't mind." You replied, Brad just nodded in response. You took it as the cue to leave.
You reached for the handle to open the door but as soon as you did you felt Brad's hand on your arm. He pulled you closer to him lightly until your face was so close to his that you were able to see all his features clearly.
"I had an amazing time tonight," Brad mumbled, again, resting his hand on your chin.
"You said earlier." You muttered, your eyes flickering between his eyes and his lips. You wanted to kiss him so bad.
"I know, just thought I should say it again." Brad was keeping his voice to a whisper, even though there was no one around but you two. You noticed his eyes were doing same; switching between looking at your eyes and your lips.
You took this as your hint. Without even thinking about it you leaned in and pressed your lips to Brad's, closing your eyes. Just when you thought it was the wrong thing to do you felt Brad kissing back. Within seconds, light kissing had turned into making out and Brad's hands were roaming over your body.
A couple of minutes later you pulled away, desperate for some air. You couldn't help but smile when you noticed Brad had your red lipstick all over his mouth. You rubbed it off with your thumb before looking in the rear-view mirror and attending to your own.
"I'll speak to you later." You winked, reaching for the handle and stepping out of the car, leaving Brad in a daze.
You shut the door behind you and walked up to the front of the apartment building, unlocking the door before turning around and waving to Brad. He was still sitting in the car, looking at you with a smirk on his face. He waved back before starting his car and driving off, just as you walked through the door and headed up the stairs to your apartment. ❤
