As much as you hated to admit it, you felt like the stereotypical teenage girl

As much as you hated to admit it, you felt like the stereotypical teenage girl. It wasn't easy being in love with your best friend, especially when said best friend was at least 2 years older than you and unintentionally treated you like a child most of the time.

You can't remember the last time you had been out with Brad and he didn't make you feel like he was there to 'protect' you in some way. Constantly he made small jokes about how young you were, when in reality you were legally an adult.

Brad was 20 years old and as for you, you were 18. Technically that didn't make you a child at all, but somehow Brad found a way for it to seem that way.

As much as it annoyed you that Brad treated you that way you knew he would never mean any harm by it. Brad was always there for you, which was one of the many reason you had started falling for him. You could never tell him how you felt though, there was no chance you were going to risk the friendship you two had. It meant too much to you.

"Y/N, are you dressed? Presentable?" Your mum shouted from the bottom of the stairs. You rolled your eyes at her, although you she couldn't see you as you were in your room.

"No mum, I'm completely stark naked." You sarcastically shouted back before hearing a familiar laugh and your mum tutting at you.

"Just go up Brad," you heard your mum mutter. "She's so cheeky sometimes I swear."

"One of the reasons we love her though," Brad replied before running up the stairs and lightly knocking on your door before slowly pushing it open, looking very hesitant.

"Did you actually think I was naked?" You laughed, the worried look on his face leaving as soon as he saw you sitting on the edge of your bed, fully clothed.

"Kinda. I was hoping so." Brad winked at you, causing you to blush madly. You tried to hide it but you knew it was no use.

"Oh shut up, you perv!" You laughed, hitting his arm as he sat down next to you.

"So... Are you ready to go?" Brad changed the subject... Something he did a lot.

"Go where? We never go anywhere. We always just hang out at each other's houses." To say you were confused was an understatement, where did Brad want to go all of a sudden?

"I'm pretty sure I told you? I'm gonna take you to the city." Brad grinned, looking like he'd came up with a master plan.

"No, you never told me that. Why are you taking me to the city? It's like 8pm nothing will be open?"

"That's correct, Y/N." He said sarcastically, making you roll your eyes and him follow with a laugh. "But that's when it's the best time... Plus there's like a fair on or something. I thought it would be fun, but if you don't wanna go..."

Brad knew what he was doing, if there was one thing you loved more than anything in the world it was fun fairs. As soon as he said the word 'fair' you had begun getting on your shoes.

"What you waiting for then?" You asked him as he sat there watching you.

"It's so beautiful here. Normally I hate this city, but there's something about seeing it like this... When it's quite... It changes it. Do you know what I mean?" You felt like you were rambling on but Brad wasn't stopping you so you assumed he didn't mind.

"I know what you mean." Brad laughed, staring out to the sea and leaning against the railings you were standing in front of.

"I really miss you when you go on tour Brad, it's not the same without you here." You admitted.

"I really miss you too, Y/N. I wish you could come with us and see all the cool places. You'd love them, I swear. I always see things that remind me of you and imagine what it would be like to have you there with us. It'd be amazing." Brad didn't look away while he was speaking but you could see he was smiling.

"Maybe during summer?" You suggested.

"Yeah! We'll be going to so many cool places during then, I'll ask if you can join us!" Brad faced you and you immediately saw how happy he looked. "I would love to have you there. We all would."

You felt your cheeks heating up and before you could say anything Brad had changed the subject, again.

"Y/N do you like me?" He asked bluntly.

"Of course I like you Brad," you laughed awkwardly. "We're best friends."

"No, I know we're best friends... I mean do you like, like me? Like feelings more than a best friend?"

"Um... Why are you asking me this?" You were starting to feel so embarrassed but there was no way you were going to be able to hide it.

"At first I didn't think you did, but then the boys said something about it and they told me to pay more attention to the way you acted around me and stuff... And I did... And sometimes I think you do, but other times I'm not sure." Brad sighed, before smiling slightly. "You're very confusing Y/N."

"You don't know the half of it," you muttered in reply before turning away from Brad.

"Tell me then. Do you like me or not?" It sounded like he was getting angry, or if not at least a little agitated... Although you had no idea why he would be getting annoyed over this.

"Yeah, I do but it's fine. It's not that big of a deal, so you don't have to like freak out about it and stuff. I know it wouldn't ever work.." You turned to face him.

"What? Wait, why wouldn't it work?" Brad's eyebrows furrowed together.

"Because you don't feel the same, plus you always treat me a child so I'm assuming I'm too young for you."

"Why are you assuming I don't like you back? I never said anything about liking you or not liking you... And I never treat you like a child! I say you're cute and stuff, because you are."

"Wait, you like me back?" You were in complete shock. Never did you think Brad would have the same feelings towards you as you had for him.

"Of course I do, Y/N. You know how everyone just has that person, who they can't stop thinking about and don't ever want to be away from? Well you're my person." Brad smirked, taking your hand in his and locking your fingers together.

"And my age doesn't bother you?"

"Not one bit. It's only 2 years, Y/N." Brad chucked. "Now, I've got one last thing to admit."

"What?" You grinned, wondering how any of this could get any better.

"I really want to kiss you right now."

You felt yourself blush but you couldn't wipe the smile off your face, "Go for it then."

That was all Brad needed to lean in and press his lips against yours, moving them after a while as you did the same. It was the first kiss you two had shared and it couldn't be more perfect.
