"Geez, it's freezing outside!" I rubbed my hands together as I enter the coffee shop with my best friend Erin.
"Last I checked the weather it was like -12 degrees. Below freezing point of water, so we are basically in the point of freezing," she replied.
"Very funny Erin." I rolled my eyes as we line up for the queue.
"Everyone's in here for the coffee, to get some heat in their systems."
"I know you just finished your exam Erin, don't you go science geek on me," I replied.
"I'm sorry. So what are you getting?" Erin asked. I noticed that we are next in line.
"Hello, Y/N and Erin, a cold afternoon to both of you. May I get your order?" the girl in front of us, Fiona asked. She knew us very well because we always come here.
"Well I'm getting the usual, hot chocolate with extra marshmallows. And you Erin?"
"Pistachio Choco-Frappuccino please," she requested with a smile.
"Okay, will be serving your drinks as soon as possible," Fiona told us with her very warm smile. As always, we waited at the left-most part of the cashier for our drinks.
Erin and I are used to wait for a long time for our drinks. As the café's motto said: Waiting means a good drink ahead. As we were waiting, I started scanning the place and my gazed stopped at the sight of a boy, very much like my age, curly-haired brunette and he is very serious with what he's reading.
He doesn't look like he belongs here, he seems different from the rest, I thought to myself.
What is he reading? Is it a novel or a scholarly book? Why the serious face?
"Y/N, you there?" Erin nudged my shoulder as I was deep in thought. I didn't notice how interested I am with that boy.
"Sorry, I was just thinking something."
"You are staring."
"What? Staring? With whom?"
"Don't act like you don't know. You're staring at someone. I can't pinpoint who that is, though."
"Nevermind that Er-"
"Hot chocolate for Y/N and pistachio choco-frapp for Erin". And for a split second, everyone inside the café went quiet, maybe for them to hear their orders, then in a snap, everything returned to its motion. I grabbed my drink and noticed that there were less people than the moment we went inside.
"Maybe we should stay," I suggested Erin. I wanted to study the boy. Maybe because I was attracted to him. No. something is pulling me towards him.
"Yeah, it seems like a great idea." Erin answered.
