Chapter 14

Would you be my girlfriend?

The same question kept going through my head over and over again. The thought of becoming Robert’s girlfriend become frightening. There were a lot of things that would keep us apart in the future.

My heart wanted to say yes, but my mind was telling me to stop and think about what he was proposing.

The question now is, do I follow my heart or my head?

I looked up and saw Robert’s eyes, the eyes that had captured me since the beginning. I longed to see them happy, to see them shine under the bright blue sky.

The night became warmer, and more relaxing.

I wanted to scream “yes” and kiss him senseless, but my head won the battle against my heart.

“I can’t Robert. I can’t be your girlfriend” I said looking away from him.

“Why?” he desperately asked taking my hands.

“Please don’t make this harder for us Robert. You know we can’t be together”

He let go of my hands and took a step back.

“It doesn’t matter what you are Jane, I love you”

Pain pierced through my heart, I wanted to tell him that I loved him so much, but it would only make things harder for us.

I belong to a world where mating with a human could be deadly. He doesn’t belong in my world, a world where humans are our pray and nothing else.

“We can’t be together Robert, it’s dangerous”

“Do you love me?” he asked suddenly.

My heart stopped. I felt hopeless for a second; a feeling of sadness became apparent.

“I…I…don’ know” I lied taking a step back. Robert’s eyes show confusion and hopeful.

“You do you Jane, I know that deep inside you there is a feeling of love for me” he said taking a step closer to me.

Our chests bumping into each other, there was no denying of the attraction that we had towards each other.

I was well aware of his muscular figure, and his kissable lips. For a brief second, I saw our lives together, I saw our future.

“Don’t deny your love for me Jane” he whispered seductively on my ear.

No, I couldn’t deny my love for him, but I also felt afraid of telling him how I felt.

He pulled away just to tilt my head up with his hand, our eyes met and that’s when I let guard down. He brought his lips to mine, the softness of his lips made my knees go weak.

I wanted to melt at that instant. I brought my arms around his neck to pull him closer to me. He immediately responded and pulled me closer to his chest.

It was nice to feel his lips against mine, it was as if the world brought me Robert to bring me happiness in my life.

He made me feel complete, I was no longer just a vampire princess, I was now a part of this world by having Robert at my side.

I pulled away gently.

“Jane…please…” I took a deep breath and saw his eyes again. They were begging for me to say yes.

I knew then that me saying “no” was not going to work this time around. I saw honesty in his eyes as I stood closer to him.

That same honesty that brought us closer everyday was flowing all around us.

It didn’t matter what I was because I knew that he was going to be with me no matter what.

We were going to fight together, because we loved each other.

“Ok”

“You’ll become my girlfriend?” he asked excitedly.

I laughed. “Yes, of course you dummy”I said playfully.
