I looked down at our hands before speaking. “I…can’t leave Alexander alone…he has done so much for me. I have to get him something in return only then would I be able to leave in peace.”

“Ok, what’s your plan then?”

I gulped already feeling my body temperature raising. “I…I….was planning on introducing him to Melissa?”

He let go of my hand quickly before standing up. “WHAT?!?”

Chapter 23

Robert let go of my hand quickly before standing up. “WHAT?!?” he exclaimed. I flinched before gaining enough strength to go up to him.

        “I’m sorry Robert, but I thought that since your sister was here…and since Alexander is a good guy…they might give each other a chance?” I took a hold of his hand as he slowly relaxed. Taking a deep breath he turned to me and smiled.

        “I guess…we can give it a try, as long as that friend of yours doesn’t come near you then I’m fine” he said protectively as he pulled me close.

         “Is someone jealous?” I smirked teasing him. He blushed slightly looking away.

          “No” he murmured. I brought my hand up to his face. His soft skin against my cold one felt smooth and delicate. His face held a different look as our eyes met.

           It was look that I couldn’t quite comprehend. His big brown eyes held something behind them, there was something else in his expression that left me confused and lost.

          “Are you all right?” I asked him.

          “I’m fine…just a bit tired” he assured me.

 I nodded giving him a hug, placing my head right on top of his chest where his heart was beating rapidly. He embrace me with his arms as we stood there, just hugging and enjoying the moment.

           “What are we going to do to bring them close then?” he asked. I pulled back slightly.

           “I was hoping we can all go out” Maybe then we can get out of here and do something fun before it’s time for us to leave this place.

           “All right” he agreed. “We can go to a small restaurant not far from here”

           “Sounds good to me” I said smiling at him. I gave him a peck on the lips and pulled away from him.

           “I guess it’s time for you to go to sleep. You look tired, where were you today?” I asked in concerned. He smiled tiredly.

           “I went to see someone…” he replied looking down at the floor. Concerned immediately filled me, not letting me think straight.  My mind froze, stopping me from moving or doing anything for that matter. I gulped thinking the worse.

 Who could he possibly go to see? I kept thinking as I looked at Robert. Robert on the other hand was dead silent. He sighed after a minute still looking down at floor.

           “Who did you visit this morning?” I asked as emotionless as I could. Yet, despite my attempt to make it sound heartless, I still heard the distant crack in my voice.

          “…I had to go see someone” he uttered, looking up at me.

   There was a slight pained expression in his eyes as my eyes met his. They held so much pain that I found myself sharing the same feeling for a moment. He sighed bringing his hand up to his face rubbing his left eye preventing his tears from running down his face.

 “Who?” I repeated.

He stood quiet for what it felt like years. A lot of thoughts were going through my head at this moment; we stood in front of each other just waiting to see who was going to be the first to speak.

I felt myself getting anxious by the minute. I silently begged Robert to tell me anything, it didn’t matter what, but he needed to say something before I can find myself going crazy.

Robert took a step forward while holding my gaze. He brought his hand up to cup my right cheek. I felt myself melting as soon as I saw his face getting closer to mine.

 I shrugged slightly as soon as I felt his hot breath next to my ear.

“I went to see my dead father” he replied. I froze closing my eyes.

What have I done?
