Moonlight Kiss

Chapter 13

I hesitated for a second, trying to process everything that Alexander just told me. The idea of being apart from Robert was killing me, if only I could find a way to keep us close.

“Alexander, please I can just leave the people that has helped me like that. Just give me until tomorrow to fix a few things and then we’ll see what happens” he frowned looking a bit distressed.

As I looked up at him, I saw my best friend debating what to do. “Please” I pleaded softly.

His eyes soften while nodding a yes in response. “Thank you” I said pulling him back for a hug.

“You know you’re the best” I said making him chuckled in response.

“C’mon, it’s getting late and I need to rest” he said pulling back just so that he could place an arm around my shoulder as we walk.

It took us a while to find a decent hotel. Alexander asked for a room to the person sitting behind the front desk.

“Here is your key, room 14” she said handing Alexander the key. He nodded as we exited the office.

We made our way to his room in silence. “So, this is it” I said while we were standing in front of his room.

“Yeah” he said rather awkwardly.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Jane, meet me here in the morning” he said opening the door to his room.

“Ok, I’ll be here tomorrow” he nodded one last time before entering his room and shutting the door close behind him.

I let out a huge sigh of relief. For a moment I thought Alexander was going to make me stay with him.

Now…how am I supposed to tell Robert about Alexander?

I turned around and started walking back to Robert’s house. The idea of him waiting for me made me nervous and excited.

This new feeling that I have for him made me forget about my worries. I knew deep in my heart that after all of this, he deserves better.

I can’t offer him a simple life because my life will always be in danger and at stake. I can’t also bring him to my world, because of what he is. There is really no words to describe how I feel about him, my world turns brighter and shines with happiness when I’m near him.

The thought of leaving him here…away from me was making things harder for me.

I’m scared to leave him, but I knew that it is for the best.

As I made my way to his house, I couldn’t stop thinking on what he told me this morning.

What could he possibly want to talk about?

I just hope it’s nothing that would make me rethink my decision.

I arrived at his house surprise to see Robert looking nervous pacing back and forth in front of his porch.

“Robert?” he stopped and looked my way with a grin on his face.

“Jane”

“What are you doing outside?” I asked walking closer to him.

He looked uncomfortable for a second. “I…I was just waiting for you” he said walking the side of his house.

I stood right where I was just looking at him while still trying to figure out what he was getting.

A smiled spread across my face as soon as I saw what he was holding on his hands, a small bouquet of roses.

Red roses

“These are for you” he said holding them out for me.

“They are beautiful” I whispered softly as I inhaled their sweet scent.

“Yes they are, but nothing could compare to your beauty” he said smiling. I froze, not sure what to do.

He took a step closer to me, the only thing keeping us a few centimeters apart were the roses that I was holding.

I could smell his blood running through his veins, the sweetness of it.

Jane concentrate, you don’t want his blood.

I keep repeating that in my head, I gaze averted from his neck to his piercing brown eyes.

“Jane” he said softly. The sound of him calling my name like that made my knees weak and my heart tight.

Just as my intuition for his blood started to surge back again, I felt the ring on my finger stop me.

I felt its pull.

The power of the ring was definitely protecting Robert.

“Jane, are you okay?” I snapped back to reality and saw him staring at me with concerned.

“Yes, I…I’m fine” I replied trying to hide my nervousness.

He still didn’t look satisfied but nodded anyway. “Jane, there is something I want to ask you”

Oh, no…here we go. I mentally prepare myself for the worst.

“Ok, what is it?”

“Jane…what you are doesn’t matter to me. I know that what you are might take us apart, but you have to know that I don’t care, because I like you…more than you think. Jane, what you make me feel is like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I can’t stand being away from you and although we belong to two different worlds, I want you to know that I’ll always be here for you. But there is something that I would like to ask you, and if you say no know that I’ll still be here for you”

There were a millions of things going through my mind as Robert kept talking. I didn’t know if I really wanted to hear what he had to say.

What if it’s something bad?

What if he wants me out of his house?

What if…?

“Would you be my girlfriend?” I heard him ask.

Now that was unexpected.
