Moonlight Kiss

Chapter 18

I pushed Alexander away making him stumbled a little before regaining control back. I felt guilt and remorse…I just cheating on Robert with my best friend.

I’m so stupid, how can I let him do that to me?

“Jane” he said taking a step towards me.

I immediately walked around him not wanting to be near him. “Stay away from me Alexander. I don’t know why I kissed you back, it was mistake that I shouldn’t have done” I looked frantically around me looking for some type of escape.

“Jane, don’t say that. But I shouldn’t have kissed you…I’m sorry” he apologized letting his head down. I saw a defeated Alexander in front of me and I didn’t like it, it made me feel worse.

I clear my throat and he looked up. “I should go”

He nodded moving away from the door. “Yeah, I think you should go”

I gain back my strength and nodded walking to the door. He grabbed my wrist making me look back at him. “I’m really sorry Jane”

“I’ll see you later” he let go of my arm and with that I headed outside his hotel room feeling confused and guilty.

Now what am I going to tell Robert?

With a sigh, I walked back to Robert’s house.

“You made it” I heard Robert said as I enter his house. He was in the kitchen stirring a pot.

I looked at his face and all I saw was happiness and love. It made me feel guilty and mad at myself for letting Alexander kiss me.

I want to tell Robert about what happened, but I just couldn’t…I can’t tell him.

“Yeah…umm…what are you doing?” I asked trying to change the subject.

He looked back at the pot and smiled. “I’m making dinner for us. Mom went out with my sister to visit a friend, so we have the house to ourselves” he replied trying not to blush.

I felt a giddy feeling in my stomach that was making my face warm; I was probably blushing even more than he was.

“That’s great” I told him feeling a bit uncomfortable. Although I can technically eat human food, it’s not the same as blood. This remains me that I have to go hunting before I get thirsty.

He nodded enthusiastically. “You should rest a little then we can have dinner…you can eat human food right?” he asked looking embarrassed. “I tend to forget that you’re a…vampire”

“Yes, I can” I replied softly. He let out a sigh of relief and smiled.

“Great, now go to your room and rest. Dinner should be ready in an hour” he said going to back to whatever he was doing.

I nodded heading back to my room.

This was going to be a long night.

I immediately changed into a new pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. I decided to go hunting before my dinner with Robert. It has been a while since I’ve had fresh blood and I was now craving it more than ever.

I open the door slightly trying not to make any noise; I looked out and saw him distracted cutting some vegetables while listening to music. I quietly exit my room and walked towards the door, now you might be asking why I’m using the door and not the window, but my window just happened to have a locked and if I were to destroy the lock, I would be making a lot of noise.

I wonder why the window was locked; maybe they don’t use the room much.

As I quietly made my way to the door, I catch a glimpse of Robert happily making dinner. He looked cute and very hot making dinner.

I almost laughed at my remark before covering my mouth with my hand. I open the door and with that I was out of the house making my way to the forest.

The quiet night made me feel relax and calm yet I knew that there was some type of danger following me around. I could feel a dark presence around me as I enter the forest. I looked around me and saw only darkness surrounding the forest.

As I kept walking, my instincts were telling me that I was getting closer to my prey. The smell of blood hit my nostrils, making my mouth dry in the process. As I got closer to my prey, I heard a faint cry coming from behind one of the trees.

I tried not to make a lot of noise as I made my way to the tree, the faint cries had stopped now and now there was only silence surrounding the forest. I stopped for a minute, not sure if I should proceed or not. My instincts were pulling me towards the tree, but my heart was holding me back. I let out a sigh trying to calm my breathing, especially my heart rate.

Then I heard the same faint cry again, for a moment I thought it was someone crying, but as I got closer I saw a dear lying down next to the tree coughing blood from its mouth. My eyes traveled all the way to its stomach and saw that the animal was severely injured  injured. I didn’t notice that I was holding my breath until I felt myself breathing hard and fast as I looked down at the animal.

I felt my vampire instincts coming back again, this time my I felt my throat getting dry as well as my lips. As soon as I saw more blood coming out of the deer, I found myself craving for it.

I stepped closer to the animal kneeling in front of it. The animal released a loud and painful cry before closing its eyes. I took its pulse and knew instantly  that it was dead. A part of me felt bad for the animal, but nothing stopped me from leaning closer to its neck and biting the life out of him, I sucked its blood as if this was my last meal. I felt empty, but as soon as the blood started going down my throat I felt a sense of satisfaction taking over me.

I sucked all the blood that I could, not once regretting what I was doing. I’m a predator after all; there was no denying in that. I’m meant to kill and that’s what I’m doing. Nothing in this world is going to accept that except for my kind. That is why it is important for me to go back to where I belong before I end up doing something that I will regret.

After a few minutes I cleaned myself up and left the forest. It was still very much dark outside, the sky was pitch black; there was no sign of any start or the moon outside. I felt the danger coming from the forest.

I kept walking back to Robert’s house, as I turned to the corner I couldn’t help but to notice a dark shadow at the corner of his house. I was about to take a step forward, but it disappeared within seconds.

All sorts of questions haunted my mind, I wanted to look for the shadow, but I knew that it was impossible because Robert was waiting for me. I just hope that it doesn’t bring trouble into our lives.

As I made my way to his front door, I heard him signing at sound of the music. I let out a laugh before entering the house.
