Moonlight Kiss

Chapter 17

“What is it that you want to talk about Jane?” he asked looking at me intently.

I looked around his room trying to find a way to calm myself, because for some weird reason I’m feeling a bit nervous. I shook my head and towards the bed. I took a seat while Alexander walked to the seat in front of me.

“Jane, talk to me, what is it?” he asked looking genuinely concerned. I took a deep breath.

“Alexander, you know how much this means to me. Me being here, but going back home is not going to help with anything”

He furrowed his eyebrows looking confused. “And why is that?”

“I can’t go back, because I’m going to go to the Dark Forest and find help. We need all the help we can get to when war comes. I’m destined to end this Alexander, I can’t back up now”

Not when I have found my other half. I can’t let anything happen to Robert because of me.

“Is that what you want to do? Do you really want to fight?”

I bit my lip meeting Alexander’s gaze. “I don’t have a say on this Alexander. I have to do this in order to save my kingdom. I can’t risk my people, and that is why I’m telling you that I have to go. You may go back and tell me parents what I’ve been telling you, it really doesn’t matter since I’ll be gone by then”

Alexander looked shocked and sad. The look on his face makes me want to go up to him and hug him.

“When are you leaving?” he asked hesitantly.

I turned my head to the said not wanting to see his reaction after I tell him when I’ll be leaving. “In a couple of days” I replied.

I heard Alexander rose from the chair and started pacing the room back and forth. I looked at him and saw him narrowing his eyes, probably thinking.

He stopped suddenly stepping closer to me. “Jane, you know that I’ll always be here no matter what, and I want you to consider what I’m about to tell you”

I nodded nervously. “Ok, what is it?”

He sighed taking a hold of my hand. “I want to come with you. I know that it will be dangerous since I’m human, but I want you to know that I’m here for you. I want to go with you”

I held my breath all the time while he was talking. A part of me wanted so bad to tell him yes, but I couldn’t. Robert was coming with me and that is enough for me, I can’t protect the two of them.

There was just one thing that I needed to be said before I leave; one thing only.  I rose from the bed letting go of his hand. I walked towards the window, looking at the view outside. For once I was surprise to see that he had a perfect view of the forest.

Its greenness held so much hope, yet it contains darkness and danger. My people have been waiting for everything to end for so long and now it’s my turn to return them hope that everything was going to be just fine.

There was nothing else in the world that could possibly make me change my mind now. I’m their only hope.

I closed my eyes only to see Robert haunting my thoughts. I could sense his touch, the feeling of his lips against mine and his eyes, those eyes that captured me since we met.
