Moonlight Kiss

Chapter 6

We kissed for a few more minutes. I was enjoying the moment, of us kissing under the moonlight…but then reality hit.

Images of my parents appeared in my head, and then guilt hit me hard.

Humans and vampires can’t be together…that is the law.

But I’m a princess, if I violate the laws of Calypso, the punishments could be deadly.

But who would have thought that I was going to like a human this fast?

I gently pushed Robert away. He looked hurt and sad, but took a step back.

I gently touched his cheek. “Jane” he whispered gazing at me.

His gaze held mine and for a second I was captured in the moment, his beautiful brown eyes held my mine.

“I…we can’t” he nodded and raise his hand to cup the hand that I had on his cheek.

“It’s ok, it’s just…there is something in me that pulls me to you. I know that it might sound weird…It’s getting late, we should probably go back home”

I nodded. There was something in me that understood what he was feeling. There was indeed some kind of connection pulling us together.

Maybe I should go see Victoria tomorrow; she should be able to help me with all of this.

As we walked back to his house, I heard a faint growling sound coming from the forest. Although Robert’s house was in the middle of the town, one could easily hear what was happening in the forest.

There was a sudden chill going through me as I heard a scream.

I froze.

“Did you hear that?” Robert turned to look at me and shook his head looking at me confused.

“No…what is it?”

I had to remind myself to take deep breaths. Something is wrong.

“We have to hurry or your mom is going to get mad” I said rushing him to the house. He didn’t protest or anything. He just nodded and we both started walking faster to his house.

As soon as we got back, there was no sign of his mother in the house. I looked around the living room, but had no such luck.

“Where is your mom?”

“Oh, she must be working now. She works really late at the factory, sometimes she doesn’t come home at all”

I yawned loudly and rubbed my eyes. “I’m tired; I think I should go to bed now…I had a really nice time, thank you”

“I’m glad, I’ll just see you in the morning then” he said forcing a smile.

I nodded and walked to my room. The smell of fresh roses made the room inviting and cosy. I walked toward a small bookcase and took out a beautiful vase. I carefully went to the bathroom to poured water on the vase; as soon as the vase was half full I placed the roses in it, making sure not to cut myself.
