Chapter 20

          I enter her house and I immediately felt at peace, a strange yet calming scent made me feel relaxed. I hadn’t realized I’d been studying the house until I heard Victoria taking a step in front of me.

        “You can sense the calmness…it will help you clear your mind” she smiled and nodded for me to take a seat right in front of the fireplace. I found myself leaning against the sofa, letting everything go. I look to my left and saw how the wood started turning black as soon as it made contact with the fire. The bright yellow fire brought a sense of awareness to my body. I immediately felt its pull as I held its gaze. A sense of clarity made its way to my mind, but the feeling was cut out short as soon as I felt Victoria’s hand on my shoulder.

         “Don’t let it trick you Jane. The fire can be very deceiving. Its color can bring you clarity, but it will also bring you confusion you if you stare at it for too long” she commented taking a seat in front of me. I turned my attention back to her and nodded.

         “I need your help” she smiled warmly and leaned back signaling me to continue.

          “I’m having trouble with my heart. It’s confusing me, I don’t know if what I feel is real or not” I said avoiding contact with her eyes. I felt her gaze at me carefully before getting up from her seat. I looked up and saw her getting out small stones of all kinds and colors, her face lit up as soon as she a small wooden box at the far end of the cabinet.

          I had no intention on asking her why she was taking all of those things out, I was somewhat afraid to hear her answer. So I stayed quite as she made her way towards me placing the gems and the wooden box in front of me.

          “Now my dear, if you really want to know what your heart desires all you have to do is believe in the power of the gems and your heart” she said looking down at the gems with admiration.

          “Are you sure this is going to help?” I asked quizzically.

           “Yes, of course. I have used this many times now and it works miracles”

           “What’s in the box?” I asked eyeing the box with curiosity.

           Victoria smiled looking down at the box. “This is pure magic” she opened the box slowly. As soon as the lid was open my eyes saw a small velvet bag carefully tied with a golden ribbon around it. “Before you ask, I took this from the dark forest decades ago, it’s dust…a very powerful dust” she said untying the bag. I soon as the scent hit my nose I felt its magic around me, calling for me.

          “How is that going to help me?”

          “It contains powers; you of all the people should know this. It calls to you Jane; it knows who its master is. All you have to do is ask whatever you want, but there is catch to this. You must only ask one question, it has to be a yes or no question though and it must not be specific” she explained pouring the dust over the table, spreading it with her hand.
