Tyler's hand finds my waist and he hugs me tighter to him as we watch Dani attack Jayden's cheeks with kisses. I fantasize about how satisfying it would be just to throw my coke all over them and watch them freak out, but I drink it instead to keep my angry thoughts from escaping my lips. When she finishes kissing him beside his ear, Dani whispers something to Jayden that makes his eyes widen all of a sudden.

"Well, this has been a pleasure, but I think we're gonna head off." Dani announces, smiling sympathetically at me before scowling at Tyler.

I don't need her sympathy. And there's no way I'm going to let them leave that easily. Not without having a little more fun.

"Wait. Look, Tyler didn't mean to cause trouble. Neither did I. I really was looking forward to hanging out with you guys tonight." I attempt to sound sincere but Dani definitely needs more convincing, so I swallow my pride and say the words she wants to hear. "We thought it could be like a... double date... kind of thing."

Her face lights up while Jayden's simultaneously drops and I feel Tyler's fingers digging into my waist in frustration. This will be interesting.

***

Five much needed spiked diet cokes into our painful double date, Dani suggests something that actually catches my attention. Up until now, our so called date has been nothing but Tyler staring at Jayden, Jayden staring at the ground and Dani talking about herself while I think of ways to stir things up. But after three or so drinks on an empty stomach, I think I stopped having any logical ideas.

"Why don't we play a game?" All of our attention is suddenly on Dani when she makes her suggestion. "Truth or dare?"

"This game is stup-"

"Dare." I cut Jayden off, and Dani raises an impressed eyebrow at me before giving him a peck on the cheek.

"I dare you..." I wait patiently for my challenge, ready to do anything at this point.

"Kiss me." Tyler dares me before Dani can finish her sentence and she rolls her eyes.

Well, this got interesting very quickly. My eyes dart to Jayden but there's no visible reaction on his face at all. He's harder to crack than I thought. I turn to face Tyler, but instantly chicken out when I meet his expectant eyes. Tyler is not someone I've ever wanted to kiss. Sure, he's good looking. He's great looking. He's one of the hottest guys in school, really. He's a reasonably nice guy, too. But there's just nothing else there. At least, I not for me. Tyler's gaze tells me he might just feel differently.

"Doesn't look like she's into it, man." Anger sparks within me when I hear Jayden's voice.

Anger seems to be the only thing fueling my actions recently. But, I'll take any fuel I can get. I grab hold of the collar of Tyler's letterman jacket and pull him towards me eagerly, pressing my lips against his.

There's no spark when our lips touch. No butterflies in my stomach. No heat between us. I feel nothing when he runs his hand up my thigh, obviously putting on a show for Jayden. I'm numb as his tongue forces its way into my mouth. His kisses are lazy and wet, and I'm ready for it to be over pretty quickly. I pull back after what feels like hours for me, but was probably only a few seconds in real time. I hope that looked convincing enough.
