17: You Bother Me

I down my cup of whatever Shana gave me, telling me it would help me relax, and instantly regret it when the liquid burns my throat and leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. I cough and Shana laughs at me as I reach for my third smirnoff ice.

"What was that?" I ask breahtlessly, sipping the sweet, lemony liquid, hoping to rid myself of the aftertaste of my last drink.

"Tequila?" Shana replies, more like a question, as she frowns at the label of a bottle she's holding, struggling to read it.

"You don't even know what it was?" I begin to cough again and take a few more gulps of smirnoff ice.

I should be angry, but for some reason I find this hilarious. I burst into laughter and Shana joins me, grabbing my arm when she almost stumbles over. That makes me laugh even more until we're both laughing hysterically, holding onto eachother for balance. Am I drunk?

Someone pulls my arm from Shana's grip and I'm lead out of the kitchen suddenly. I don't know where we're going but I continue to giggle as I follow along. We don't get far before we turn a corner and stop suddenly, causing me to stumble, but I'm steadied by two hands on my waist. I look up to meet two blue eyes staring back at me, slightly reddened from drinking. I don't like that.

"Whatcha doing?" I ask playfully, suddenly feeling unsteady and holding onto Landon's strong arms for support.

"I want to talk," he announces.

His grip on my waist tightens slightly and my heart skips a beat as he pulls me with him into the closest room to us. A completely white bathroom with gold and baby blue accents meets us on the other side of the door and I mentally scoff at how unnecessarily expensive this house must have been. The thought completely leaves my mind when Landon closes the door behind us and takes a step towards me. I swallow hard.

"So, talk," I say, standing up straight in a failed attempt to appear closer to his height.

"You beat me at guitar hero, Skye," he reminds me and my heart flutters when he says my name.

I nod proudly and stifle a giggle. Everything seems so funny to me right now.

"No one ever beats me at guitar hero," he looks confused and I watch his eyebrows pull together, wanting to kiss the frown off his face.

"It wasn't that hard, really," I joke, giggling at myself.

"It's not about that," he stares at the floor. People normally let him win I guess, which would bother me if it didn't make me laugh.

"Look, I'll tell everyone you won, no one will remember tomorrow anyway," I try to comfort him, although I'm still struggling not to laugh at how much this is bothering him.

"People will remember," he sighs.

Is he for real?

"I didn't know it would bother you so much," I laugh but I'm cut off as he takes a step towards me.

"You bother me," he stares at me, still frowning, and I suddenly get the urge to fight back.

"You know what?" I say, taking a step towards him so that I can almost taste the alcohol on his breath, "You're really starting to bother me too."

I frown back at him, waiting for his response, and for a moment I'm seriously annoyed.

I open my mouth to speak again but I'm cut off when Landon's strong arm is hooked around my waist, pressing my body to his, and his lips meet mine. I forget what we were just arguing about as I kiss him back, my hands finding his hair and pulling him closer to me.

He's a good kisser. He's a really good kisser. I can taste the alcohol in his mouth but I don't care. All I can focus on right now is the heat between us and the way my stomach refuses to stop fluttering. He kisses me harder, his tongue pushing it's way into my mouth, and I let out a sigh, my entire body ignited.

I swear I hear a knock on the door, but forget about it when I'm lifted off the ground by one strong arm around my waist.

I gasp and wrap my legs around Landon's waist for support before I'm set down on the bathroom counter. The kiss is broken for a second and I look down at Landon's swollen lips before pressing mine to them once again.

There are no thoughts in my head and all I want in this moment is more.

We're both breathing heavily into eachother's mouths, Landon's tongue moving against mine again. I feel his large hand grip my thigh and my stomach flutters uncontrollably as I thread my fingers into his hair in an attempt to be even closer.

There is another louder knock at the door and I definitely hear it this time.

I hesitate before pulling away, breaking the kiss, and looking towards the door. I see the doorknob turn and panic, pushing my hands against Landon's chest and jumping down from the counter. He frowns at me as I tug my skirt down but then turns to the door when there is another loud knock. I run my hands through my hair as he walks over to the door to get rid of whoever's knocking, before it swings open forcefully.

My heart almost stops when I see the dark haired boy on the other side of the door. His caramel eyes find me and I tug at my clothing, as if it wasn't clear enough what we were doing in here. Jayden stares at me for a moment in confusion before his focus turns to Landon and I see his eyes visibly darken so that they are almost black.

He wouldn't.

He takes a step towards Landon and I panic.

He might.

I rush towards him, placing both hands on his chest and pushing him gently backwards. Is he serious?

"Jayden, stop," I look into his eyes and watch them return to their normal colour.

He hesitates for a moment before turning and walking out.

I look back at Landon who has a confused expression on his face, but I think he understands. He sighs and begins to walk towards the door, but turns and stops right in front of me.

"See you round, Skye," he says, turning on his heel and walking back out into the party before I can say anything else.

I sigh, frustrated, and adjust my clothing once more before walking out.
