"I'm sure she would have loved them,'' Meredith reassured me, pinching my shoulder as she handed me the flowers. I gave her a sad smile as I took the flowers in my left hand, trying to hold my breath steady as I grabbed my phone while sending Meredith a questioning look.

"I really want him to be there,'' I told her, ''but I'm not sure if it's smart to call him, damn this is a hard decision!''

She gave me an empathetic look. I placed the flowers on the ebony desk next to the front door as I motioned her to follow me.

"I personally think that Niall would love to accompany you especially because Eliza was also important to him,'' Meredith answered me and I thought about what she said. Yes, Eliza had also been important to Niall but things were so different now. Was it weird to call him? I hesitated for a moment but then I grabbed my keys as I took Meredith by the hand, making my way out as I sighed.

''I'll call him when we're outside,'' I said to her as I grabbed my keys to lock the door of my apartment. I sighed as I turned around, suddenly feeling really afraid. This day had always been a struggle for me. It always remembered me of my little precious Eliza, my little princess. It remembered me of times when we used to play in our big garden, she always on the swing  and me behind her pushing. I felt the prick of tears behind my eyelids as I looked down, so I quickly walked outside with Meredith right behind me. I took a deep breath as I stepped outside, inhaling the scent of pine cones and rain as I turned around to face Meredith.

"Here goes nothing,'' I stated with a sad voice as I took my phone in my right hand to call Niall. I hesitated for a second before I pushed the button.

"Hello?" I heard him saying through the phone and I stifled a laugh, he always forgot to check his phone to see who was calling him.

"Hey, it's me,'' I said a little groggily as I tried to prevent my hands from shaking.

"Hey, Em! What's going on?" He asked me, obviously noticing how shaky my voice sounded.

"You know what day it is, right?" I asked him soft and he sighed deep.

"Yes, I know, Em. Can I do anything for you?"

"I want you here, with me,'' my lips trembled as I spoke. My gaze fell upon Meredith and I gave her an anxious look which she replied with a encouraging smile. He stayed silent after he cleared his throat. I bit my lip, my cold fingers fumbling with the hem of my shirt as I waited for his answer.

"Of course! I'll be there with you, I know how important this is for you, and for me as well. Give me half an hour and I'll be there! I'll pick up some flowers as well,'' he said very rushed and I said goodbye to him. It felt so happy and relieved to know that he was going to be there with me even though I also had Meredith with me.  She had never met Eliza while Niall had met her several times.

"Well?" Meredith asked impatiently and I gave her a genuine smile. She smiled back as she grabbed my hand.

"Let's go, Em. I'm so proud of you,'' she whispered.

I felt the tears burning as I looked at the sight in front of me. Her small picture stood against the large oak tree and I took a step closer to look it. I had always been jealous of her long brown curly hair and her big blue eyes. She was a beautiful child, always happy and smiling. Why her? It saddened me to realise my question would always remain unanswered. I placed the red roses next to her picture as I knelt down.

"Hello little sister, I have some flowers for you,'' I whispered, ''These are your favorite, right? I miss you so much, my precious little girl. I think about you every day, and every day I miss you more. I love you so much.'' I though about her last day on earth which was one of my most painful memories to revisit.
