The ceramic tiles were cold beneath my feet as I tiptoed downstairs, trying to be quiet, shivering as the cool air hit my bare feet. There were some faint noises coming from the kitchen, a dull thud of the refrigerator door being closed followed by a soft, low voice. As I entered the kitchen, Niall had his back towards me, his arms moving in a wild motion, probably mixing something in a bowl. My mom stood next to him, telling him to stir a little faster.
''Well, good morning,'' I said, a little confused. I couldn't help but laugh when Niall turned around, his hair and face covered with flour. He laughed a small laugh before wiping the flour from his face.
''Good morning,'' he said, a cheeky smile creeping across his face as he came closer.
''Back off,'' I warned him.
''Relax, I'm not doing anything.'' He gave me a lingering kiss on my lips, covering my face with specks of flour as well.
''Slept well, beautiful?'' He inquired, his arms wrapped loosely around my waist, a happy smile playing on his lips.
''Perfect until I woke up alone. Why didn't you wake me up?''
''You were asleep, that's why,'' he stated matter-of-factly, before turning around to face my mother once again.
''And now I've missed all the fun,'' I said, feeling a little upset.
''Do you consider me watching your boyfriend mess up a simple pancake as fun?'' My mom asked, laughing at her own joke, her roaring laugh filling the kitchen.
''I'm doing an amazing job!'' Niall defended himself, pointing at the mixing bowl in front of him. ''Okay so I may have forgotten that you needed eggs to make a pancake, but that's all.''
''Eggs?! What do you think pancakes are made of?"
''I don’t know. Milk and butter?"
I watched in amusement as my mother and Niall continued to argue about whether Niall had screwed up the pancakes or not. He turned back to the bowl, picking up the spoon and mixed the eggs in with the milk and butter.
''Where's the sugar?'' My mom asked suddenly, rummaging through the cabinets to see if there was any sugar left.
''Damn it, I think I forgot to buy it yesterday,'' she tapped her chin while gazing at the ceiling. ''Do you think you could get it for me, Em? You can take my car.''
I sighed, standing up. ''I’m only doing this because I'm starving.''
'''Do you need me to go with you?" Niall asked before my mom interrupted him quickly.
''I don't think so, young man! You can help me set the table.''
“Sorry,'' I said laughing when Niall shot me a hopeful look as if I would help him out of it. ''Have fun you two!''
I took my mom's car keys out of her hands and made my way outside, still in my pajamas but I couldn’t give a damn. I grabbed my coat and hasten to put it on to keep myself warm. I despise going to the store on Christmas day, it was always so damn crowded.
I drove passed La Sagrada, absently gazing at the few people who were eating their breakfast. There were only three spots left as I got to the parking lot in front of the supermarket, so I quickly parked the car and went inside. I pushed myself through the crowd, trying to find the aisle where the sugar is. I mumbled apologises left and right as I accidentally bumped my shoulder against theirs.
After minutes of wandering around, I finally found the sugar and with that in hand, I tried to get to the checkout.
''Oh god. I’m so sorry!'' I said immediately as I roughly bumped into someone.
''It's fine,'' the person said and I looked up, only to meet Brian's eyes.
''Are you kidding me?'' I sighed, trying to get past him but he quickly spread his arms, making it impossible for me to get pass him.
''Get out the way.'' I growled, staring pointedly at the ground.
''Only if we talk.''
''What is there to talk about?'' I asked, knitting my brows in confusion.
''A lot,'' was his answer. Why couldn't he be more specific? Not that he needed to be, 'cause I knew exactly what he was referring to, but could he just cut right to the chase without wasting any more of my time.
''You have a minute,'' I said flatly, looking him dead in the eye. He opened his mouth to protest, but wisely shut it again when he noticed the irritated look on my face.
''You are the only thing in my life that makes me happy, and I know I can make you happy as well. Just let me show you what I can offer, and if that is not enough, you can leave but I know you won't. We are right for each other but you just refuse to see it that way. You are just denying your feelings for me because you feel bad for Niall. But I can see it in your eyes, Em. I can see the way you look at me, I know you want this as well.''
I stared at him in disbelief, dumbfounded. Does he really feel this way? Does he really think I still have feelings for him? How can he possibly think that I look at him with hearts in my eyes when every time I run into him, irritation always clouds my mind.
''Just admit it,'' he continued, taking a step closer, which in turn got me to take a step back. His eyes dropped to my lips for a minute.
''You are crazy,'' I spluttered. ''You are absolutely out of your mind. I do not have any feelings for you Brian. There is absolutely none. Wait, there's one. Revulsion. And that's all. So can you please just go away because I want to go home. Now.''
I expected him to get out of the way, but he did the most unexpected thing. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. I was astounded, frozen to my spot, only to come back to my senses seconds later. I shoved my hands between our bodies, roughly pushing against his chest to get him away from me. I wiped my mouth with the sleeve of my pajamas before slapping him in the face.
''Dick!'' I snapped at him before walking away as quickly as possible so that he couldn't grab my arm and hold me back. Unfortunately, there was a huge queue at the checkout so I had to wait until it was my turn. I do not want to meet his eyes, heck, I do not even want to see, smell, touch or hear him ever again. How dare he kiss me? I hate him, I hate him for forcing himself on to me. Does he have any ounce of respect in his freaking body?
I was still fuming with anger when I got home, but I tried to mask it. Niall didn't need to know about this, it would only make things worse. He would get mad and jealous, and would probably want to beat the shit out of Brian. As tempting as that sounded, I couldn't let him. Niall had already opened the door while I was looking for the front door key.
''That took you long enough,'' he commented as I stepped inside, taking my coat off.
''It was crowded,'' my voice sounded weird, I hoped he didn't notice it.
''Well, I'm glad you’re back.'' He leaned in, kissing my lips. I flinched. The feel of his lips on mine caused Brian’s face to flash through my mind. With panic in my eyes, I took a step back.
''What’s wrong baby?'' Niall asked, his brows furrowed in confusion. He took a step closer, and I allowed him to wrap his strong arms around me.
''N-nothing,'' I stammered, trying to relax in his arms. ''Let's just make some pancakes, alright?''
A/N: Sorry for the long wait, and sorry for the short chapter! I still hope you enjoy this one. My finals are in a month so I'm super busy, hope you understand!
