Chapter 14

Natasha's POV

"You better have a good fucking reason why I wasn't aware that my daughter was going on a mission!" Stark yelled as we walked into the conference room on the SHIELD Helicarrier.

"It was supposed to be a covert op, in and out, that's it." Bruce sighed.

"Well if it was covert tell me how the hell my tech was hacked?"

"What?"

"Bruce the tracker that we created is basically impossible to hack, unless you know exactly what you're doing."

"So someone got their hands on one? How?" I asked.

"Well I, for one, didn't give it away to anyone as a gift, oh wait, I did give it away. I gave away a few hundred, to SHIELD."

I rolled my eyes at him and sighed. Tony started talking to Bruce but I zoned out. I need to find Maddison. I'm the one who got her into this mess and I'm the only one who can get her out.

I stood up and walked out the room ignoring Tony's calls. I walked past agents and made my way to Fury's office. I knocked once and opened the door.

"Director we need to...umm okay." I trailed off.

"Agent Romanoff, I believe you know-"

"Jake." I said and Jake looked at me with a smile. He stood up and walked towards me.
"Pleasure Agent Romanoff." He stuck his hand out but I didn't shake it.

"Why is he here?"

"Jake here has been training to become an agent."

"What?"

"Jake, will you excuse us?" Fury signed and turned to Jake, who nodded and left the room.

"Are you crazy? You do know that he's Hydra right?" I snapped.

"Yeah and so is Maddison."

I stopped.
"You've got to be kidding me. You think Maddison us still connected to HYDRA?"

"I'm not entirely convinced she's not, she was with then for 3 years."

"And you-wait." Realization hit me like a brick wall. It was fury.

"You let the tracker get hacked." I trailed off.

"Yes."

"You bastard" I screamed and grabbed my gun and aiming it at him.

"Agent Romanof, holster your weapon."

I growled as anger boiled in me but I knew that I had to cooperate. I lowered my gun but didn't holster it, which Fury obviously didn't like.

"Now let me explain. Maddison doesn't know this, but before she died 3 years ago we planted a tracker in her wrist, one of the ones Stark made. When her body was taken, her tracker was destroyed, or so we thought. When Maddison got back I knew that Hydra wouldn't just let her go that easily. So I never had her fully inducted into SHIELD as an agent. When she was taken a few months back, I knew that it was obviously Hydra." He went on and on about it and I stood there in shock, no words came out of my mouth.

"So does... does that mean.." I trailed off, not wanting to say it.

"Yes, Maddison is a sleeper agent."
I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in. She's a sleeper? Oh my god. No she can't be. Shit what are we gonna do with Artemis?

"Wait, what does Jake have to do with this then?"

"He's a mole."

Tony's POV

I looked at Bruce. "You seriously don't see it do you? When has my tech ever failed? Think. Who ever Maddison was looking for was working for SHIELD."

"Dont be ridiculous Stark, we flushed Hydra out of SHIELD."

"Hydra isn't the only organization out there though Bruce. Fury knows something and im going to find out what it is. I'll be at the tower trying to track her." I stormed out the room without another word.
