Rafael finally arrived to join his friends on the golf course.
All eyes were focused on Rafael when he emerged from the golf cart. They've noticed that there's something wrong. Of all four, Rafael is the most cheerful one. He's the joker. And this sight, right at their very eyes, is not the Rafael they knew.
They walked towards him, and Rafael sat on the grass. They all followed. No one wants to ask. Then Rafael spoke in a harsh voice.
"She broke out our engagement."
Well, that's an announcement. They all left stunned.Rafael was engaged to the beautiful model they knew. They were actually present at the engagement party held at one of the luxurious hotels in Rio de Janeiro. And that was only two months ago.
What made her now ex-fiancee break up the engagement? Their questions were answered without even spilling it out.
"She said she doesn't actually love me, that she only agreed for the engagement because of her father's wish, and now that her father was gone, she broke it off," Rafael said, looking at his friends.
"Does it hurt?" Flavio asked innocently in a smirking face.
The three of them attacked Flavio, and they were rolling in the grass like teenagers.
A few seconds later, they just lay there, panting.
"Well, welcome back to bachelor's world, Rafael," Lucas said, and sit up.
"Yeah, welcome back," seconded Matheus, and he also sat up. The two follow.
"Well, I wasn't expecting this, but I think it's for the best. And of course, it hurts." Stares at Flavio. "But it's not like the end of the world. I was thinking on my way here. If we get married without love in it, it is like we put ourselves in our own cage. And I'm sure it will not be a good marriage. It won't last after all."
"You're right with that; besides, you're not that old to rush into marriage; there are many beautiful women out there. Maybe Margaret is not your soul mate," Lucas said, agreeing to Rafael.
"So this call for a celebration then?" Flavio stood up. "Our reunion and for Rafael for becoming bachelor once again."
The three laughed at Flavio. He's dancing like he won a lottery.
"Okay, so let's celebrate!" Matheus said. Lifting his fist to the air.
Then all three did the same.
"Are we going to play or let's go back to the house?" Matheus asked them.
They looked at one another, and Rafael replied."I'm not in the good mood to play; maybe we can play tomorrow."
"Okay. Fine for me." Flavio agreed.
"Fine." Marcus seconded.
"Okay, if that's all that you want to do, then let's go back to the house," said Matheus, picking up his clubs on the ground.
They all picked up their clubs and put them back in their golf bags. And walk through the path to the clubhouse.
Matheus gives his golf bag and the golf of his friends to one of the staff. And instructed him to clean it and put it back in his room.
"I'll tell the rest to help you clean," he told the boy.
After speaking to the two more boys to help the other one in cleaning the clubs, they headed out to and walked through the path headed to the stairs up to the house. They don't need the golf cart since they don't have heavy things to carry.
When they arrived at the house, the three men took a shower because they were sweating. Rafael went to the kitchen, checking what they could have for lunch.
The fridge is fully packed. How could Matheus manage to buy all this stuff? He just came yesterday, right?
They will just have a light lunch, he thought.
He decided to make
Spaghetti com Frutos do Mar: Spaghetti Pasta with sautéed shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari in a white wine, garlic, and light tomato sauce.
And:
Spinach Salad: baby spinach, caramelized pecans, apples topped with gorgonzola cheese and drizzled with balsamic reduction.
These would be fine. They will think about what to eat tonight.
