Briar

They finally arrived at the wedding banquet. 

She and Jenny are both busy watching people from afar. 

Alert. 

Her crew is also busy assisting the guest. From the food they serve, they made sure that it's more than enough for all the invited guests of the couple. She wanted to make sure that they would be satisfied with their service.

"Another successful wedding event, Briar," Jenny said, smiling. 

"Thank you for being there, Jen; it will not be possible without you by my side.She replied, squeezing Jenny's arm.

"You trusted me to be there with you, Briar, and it's all your brain working for this; I'm only following orders," replied Jenny with a smile.

"That's right, but without your heart in what we are doing, we can't do it." She said, looking around the place.

She could see that everyone was enjoying. Everybody's happy digging their food at their respective tables. The newlywed is busy eating and chatting with their parents at their table.

"Foods are superb as usual," Jenny said. Maybe she noticed that her eyes are on the table of the newlywed.

"Since the first day we partnered with them, we did not receive any complaints from our clients," she replied to Jenny.

That's true; since the catering services of her parent's friend partnered with her, she received only praises saying that the foods were great. Since then they are the partner for food catering.

"Yes, that's very true. Thanks to your parents, who introduced them to us," Jenny replied.

"Yes, it's all meant to be," she just said while her eyes focused on the newlyweds as she could see that they were happy.

She noticed that Rafael stood up and walked to the middle of the reception. He is holding a microphone. 

She knows what he will be doing. A toast for the newlywed

"Listen, ladies and gentlemen. I'm not very good at it, but this special and unforgettable night is a wonderful celebration of the perfect pair madly in love with one another. Let us all take a moment to raise our glasses for Josef and Caren. A toast for them as they travel the exciting road that lies ahead of them," said Rafel, holding up his glass for a toast.

All the guests did the same.

"And now the first wedding dance," Rafael said after the toast.

The sweet music started to play. Josef helps Caren to stand and holds her to the dance floor. The place where Rafel was standing when he did the toast. Even the newlyweds on the dance floor were lost in their world. They looked at each other with so much love.

Some couple followed the newlyweds to the dance floor. They dance to maybe three pieces of music.

When the last music has ended, the MC spoke. It's her friend's too. She always hired a wedding MC for this, his friend who's a little feminine.

"And for one of the exciting events, the wedding garter toss," the MC announced.

"The groom will take off the wedding garter and throw it to the bachelors that are present tonight." He continued

The crew put a chair in the middle of the dance floor. Caren sits down, and Josef finds the wedding garter in one of Caren's thighs. When he got it. He raised his hand and the MC spoke.

"All men gather in that area," pointing to the space in front of the newlywed few two meters away. All four groomsmen and some of the other guests gathered.

"Okay, Josef, about-face and throw the garter behind you. As I count to three. One, two, three. Throw!" Thadeus ordered.

"One, two, three, throw," shouted the MC.

Jesef throws the garter, and it lands on Matheus's head. 

All eyes are on him. His friends teased him. 

She can't help but giggle at the reaction of the man.

"Okay, handsome, I'm sure you are single, yeah? Keep that garter first because we will give you to your bride-to-be," the MC told him. 

Jenny nudged her, saying, "He's cute."

"Yes, he is but a little snob," she replied.

"Now's the wedding bouquet toss. Calling all single ladies, come and line up here with me," the MC announced cheerfully.

"Common ladies, gathered here now, don't you want to be the next bride? Look at this handsome soon-to-be groom. If you don't gather, I will have him all by myself," Thadeus commanded, laughing. 

Visitors are laughing with him.

All four bridesmaids gathered, and also some guests joined in. 

Laly and Jenny stand on the side with her. She didn't notice when Laly walked towards her and Jenny.

Caren suddenly called their names, holding a microphone.

"Briar, Laly, Jenna, you three join the ladies," she said.

"Thank you, Caren, but we're not a guest here," she said with actions because they're standing opposite of them.

But Caren stood up and walked towards them.

"I'm not going to throw the bouquet if you three won't join them," Caren told them.

The three of them left no option but to follow Caren's order. It's her day, so she's the queen of the night.

"Okay, we will join," she said and held Laly and Jenny's hands.

"Thank you, ladies," Caren replied, smiling.

When Caren walks back to where she is standing, they walk towards the place where all the single ladies are standing. They stand at the back of all the ladies. That would be fine to Caren.

"Okay, as I count to three, throw the bouquet. One, two, three, throw!" The MC shouted.

Caren has a strong force that the bouquet landed at the very far behind. 

In her arms. 

Her two friends clap their hands and kiss her.

"Wow! This would be the fantasy in reality," Laly said, smiling at her.

"Okay, now Miss Briar Friedmann walks forward." The MC called her name. 

She walks forward. 

"Now sit down in that chair," the MC instructed her. 

Her heart is now racing. Because she knows what will be next. She knows who got the garter. And she's now going to melt. She wished that the floor would swallow her right now.

"And Mr. Handsome, who has the wedding garter, will you please move forward to the middle?" The MC called for Matheus.

"Okay, and now, handsome, wear that garter to Briar," commanded the MC.

All people are cheering. Clapping and the three bachelor's whistles.

He kneeled down and lifted Briar's one foot and put it in his lap. He slipped the garter to her legs until above the knee. Then he stands up. She stands up too in a red face. She wanted to cry. This emotion she can't understand now whenever he's near.

She felt Matheus's hand at her back and camera flashes to them. 

She heard him say 'smile.'

The MC made them dance. And she couldn't believe that she's in his arms right now. Matheus held her close to him. She remembered that moment he lifted and carried her. She closed her eyes.

"You're beautiful." He whispered.

She looked up and said, "Thank you!"

It feels like being in the clouds in that very moment. She wishes that this moment won't end.
