Matheus's

They finally arrived in her parents home. She pressed the doorbell, and a moment later it opened.

"Hello, Daddy!" she greeted the man who opened the door.

"Hey, sweetheart!" her dad says, smiling. She kissed his cheeks and turned to introduce him.

"Daddy, this is Matheus, my fiancé," she said.

His dad's eyes widen. But shook his hands. 

"Welcome, son," he just said.

"Thank you, sir!" he replied.

"Briar, call me Daddy. You too, call me the same." Her dad smiled at him.

"Come on in, you two. I'll call your mom," her dad said. He tuned, then they followed.

They get inside.

"Briar, take care of your fiancé; I'll go get your mom. She's upstairs." Her dad told her and went upstairs.

They heard footsteps coming down. 

When her parents are at the foot of the stairs, they stand up and greet her mother.

"Hi, Mom!" she greeted.
"Hello, Ma'am!" he said after her.

Her parents walked towards them. Then her mom hugged the two of them. After a few seconds her mom released them; she looked at them and said.

"I'm sorry, it's just I'm overwhelmed." She turned her gaze to him.

"Briar hasn't brought men in this house to introduce to us. I've been pushing her to get one." She chuckled.

"Mom!" She's mortified in her mom's bluntness.

"Hope Briar didn't threaten you with a shotgun, son," her mom said.

"No, Ma'am. I voluntarily surrendered, "he rides on with her mom.

"Let's all have a seat," her dad said. They all seated.

"So when's the big day?" Her mom asked both of them.

"I believe that we're not getting any younger, and Briar has no more booking for weddings. She can start to plan our wedding now." He replied and smiled at her. 

"Matheus is right, and since you've been so eager to have a son-in-law, Mom..." She smiled at her mom. "I'll present to you your soon-to-be son-in-law." She hugged his arms.

He realised that even though they haven't been together for long, she's comfortable with him. Like they were perfectly made for each other.

"Well then, since you two are both mature and seem totally head over heels with each other, we are here for both of you," her dad said.

"Thank you, Daddy, Mom," she said.

"Thank you, Dad, Mom," Matheus said after her.

Her mom hugged her again.

"I'm so happy that, finally, you have found someone you've been waiting for. Your dad was right; we can't rush you to be in anyone's arms you don't love. I know you love this man; you won't agree to marry him if not." Her mom released her. And held up her hand.

"Look at this. It's magnificent." She admired her ring on her finger.

"I bet it's a heirloom," her dad says.

"How'd you know that, Dad?" she asked. 

"Sweetheart, you can't find this kind of cuttings in any modern jewellery shops nowadays." Her dad touched her ring.
