Briar's POV
After they finished their business with Laly, she bid goodbye to Caren and Josef. She comes back to her own studio. Jenna told her that she will have two appointments for tomorrow. One in the morning at ten and one in the afternoon at three.
"You'll be a busy bee for this month and onwards," Jenna told her as she entered the door.
"Sure we will." She replied, walking to her desk.
"I'll start the work at the waterfall after we finish the cake tasting and checking the reception venue. This couple is so easy to work with because they already have in mind what they want. We have discussed almost everything in just a little time, from the big details even to the smallest ones. Tomorrow we will go to see the reception venue to finalize the setting arrangements after the cake tasting. If all the couple is like Josef and Caren, we are able to cater to more than three weddings in a year," she told Jenna.
"You're right about that. If all the couple is cooperative and has the same interest in the wedding planning, all things will run smoothly," Jenna agreed.
"Yes, right. The only problem we encountered in catering a wedding was when the couple was forced to get married. They left everything to us, and when the time of the wedding came, they suddenly wanted to change. That made me want to walk out and leave them." She grimaced remembering that event.
"Yes, and when you did walk out, they begged you to continue. It's their reputation that will be ruined, not yours," Jenna said, smiling.
"Anyway, as far as I have heard, they actually work out to that convenient marriage. There's a gossip spreading that the woman is pregnant. That's good news, right? That means they are trying to make it work. Hope that they will learn to love each other."
"Hope so. There are some marriages of convenience that have worked out. They said that developed love is better than love at first sight," Jenna said.
"Really? Where did you hear that?" She teased Jenna.
"From love experts," Jenna said, laughing.
"I didn't know that you'd met a love expert?" She replied laughing too.
"I just happened to bump into him along the sidewalk," replied Jenna, still laughing.
She looked at her.
"Uh-uh. Don't look at me like that; I know that look,"Jenna said, waving her hands in her face.
"I just want to make sure my friend finally meets her love expert," she replied.
"No. They're in the wild, I guess. Not that easy to catch," Jenna said, chuckling.
"Don't catch them. Let them fall on their knees in front of you," she replied.
"If you said so," Jenna replied.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Jen. I'll visit Mom and Dad first. I haven't seen them since I came back, and you know Mom." She said, preparing her things.
"Oh, okay, so see you tomorrow then," Jenna replied.
After they said goodbye, she grabbed her handbag and went to her car. Jenna will close the shop soon.
She has to see her parents, or the two will storm into her house wearing those worried faces. Or she will hear her mom's sermon that is good for four services. Her mother is just a little exaggerated sometimes. But she and her dad found it amusing. Her mom has a long list of what she must do to attract suitors. She was so sure that that's the same thing she was going to hear when she arrived at her parent's house.
She pressed the doorbell when she arrived. The door opens in a few seconds. It's her dad.
"How are you, sweetheart? I'm sure you got caught up with the booking when you arrived from Santa Catarina," her father said while closing the door behind them.
"I'm fine, Daddy, and you are always right. The ex-Brazilian football player is getting married, and I will be the chosen wedding planner for their wedding." She said it proudly.
"Wow! I'm so proud of you, sweetheart." Her dad hugged her. And she hugged him back.
"Where's Mom?" she asks when she didn't see her mother.
"She's in the kitchen busy in her new experiment," her dad replied.
They walk towards the kitchen, and they find her mom popping something from the oven.
"Hello there, my mother dear!" She greeted her mom and kissed her cheeks.
"Hello, yourself, stranger. Hope you had a nice vacation," her mom replied, hugging her.
"It's fine, Mom," she replied.
"Well, I'm sure that you attended your booking rather than seeing us, huh! Not even a phone call," her mom said.
As what she already anticipated to hear.
'Oh dear, here we go again,' she said in her mind.
"I'm sorry, Mom, but that's an important client," she replied.
"And we aren't?"
"Mom!" She exclaimed.
"Helena," her dad just put his arm on her mom's shoulder. Then her mom paused. Then she continued.
"You're not getting any younger, Briar. And you never introduced any man to us. But of course, who could have seen you? You must attend some party. Put a little color on your face.
Wear a little sexy but not too revealing, not like old-fashioned dresses." Her mom repeated this for how many times as she can remember.
"Helena, the time will come for that. Briar is not old enough to rush into some man's arms," her dad said to his mom.
Her mom just heaved a sigh. And turn to prepare a table for dinner. She helps her mom in setting the table.
After eating their dinner, they move to the living room to talk for a while. After a few conversations, she said goodbye to her parents.
"Still early to go home; why not sleep here? You haven't slept here for a long time," her mom said.
"I wish I had extra time, Mom, but I have to finish the details of Josef and Caren's wedding. He's the one I told you about, the footballer, Dad." She said, looking at her dad.
"And tomorrow I have two appointments, one at nine o'clock and one at two o'clock," she continued.
"Okay, I hope that you will find someone to settle with Briar; I want to see my grandkids," her mom said.
"I pray for that mom. Don't worry; I will be there sooner or later." She replied smiling, then kissed her mom's cheek.
"I have to go, Mom, Dad," she said to her parents.
"Take care, sweetheart; see you when I see you," her dad said, patting her shoulder.
After she bid goodbye, she walked to her car that she parked in front of her parent's gate.
