Briar's
Since she doesn't have enough sleep. She just slept the whole trip.
Even when they had a stopover, she didn't even bother to stand up and find something to eat. For her, she needed sleep more than food.
After almost thirteen hours of travel, they finally reached their destination. Since she only had her travelling bag, she came out directly for the arrival exit.
"Briar!" It's a man's voice that seems familiar.
He looked around and saw him.
"Matheus? What are you doing here?" she asked in confusion.
"Pick you up," he said.
"Come here." He took her hand and took the luggage from her hands.
"But who asked you to pick me up?" She asked him.
"Myself," he replied.
From somewhere she heard someone calling her name. She saw his best friend approaching.
"Miguel!"
"Sorry we're late," he apologized. "By the way, this is Lora, my fiancée. Lora, this is Briar, my best friend." Miguel introduced the two women.
"Finally, I have the woman my fiancé loves as his sister." Lora hugged her; she hugged her back.
"I'm so glad that Miguel finally decided to settle down," she told Lora.
"Are you going to introduce us to this handsome man?" Lora said, looking at Matheus.
"Oh sorry. Miguel, Lora, this is Matheus."
"Her fiancé!" He cut her off, and he shook hands with the couple.
She's speechless. Where did he become her fiancé? They are not even boyfriend and girlfriend.
"Wow! You never told me that you have a boyfriend, Briar?" Miguel said, teasing her.
He looked at Matheus and said.
"Still a shy type, aren't you?Miguel said, looking at her.
She wanted to protest, but there were no words coming out of her mouth.
"You knew her well," he replied to Miguel.
"So when is the wedding?" Miguel asked her; she didn't know what to say.
"Briar said that he has to plan your wedding, so I think we will plan ours after yours," Matheus told Miguel.
Then suddenly Matheus lifted her hand. And slipped a ring on her finger.
"I'm sorry, Amada, I almost forgot. Let me see if it's fitted now." Then he kissed it after.
She looked at him, but she didn't know what to say. She has many questions, but she doesn't know where to start.
Lora took her hand and looked at the ring on her finger.
"Wow! This is beautiful. Unique," she said admiringly.
"Yes, it is. It's a heirloom, my grandmother's engagement ring," Matheus replied.
She wanted to cry; she's been holding her tears for quite long now. Mixed emotions she couldn't explain.
"I guess we need to get out of here now, if you two don't mind. Can I have my fiancée first? I'll send her to you later," he told them.
"Sure, no problem," Lora replied.
Miguel shook Matheus's hand.
"Nice meeting you, Matheus; we'll see you later."
Miguel hugged her. "Take care, sweet pea."
"Thank you! You too," she replied.
After they said goodbye. She turned to him.
"What's this all about, Matheus?"
"First let's get out of here. I've been awake since six this morning." He pulled her luggage, and she followed him.
They walked to his car parked at the parking area. He opened the compartment and put her luggage inside. He opened the passenger's door, but she stopped his hand.
"You can tell me here why you told them that we're engaged."
"Briar, I love you!"
She gasped. She covered her mouth. And her tears were racing down her cheeks.
"Please don't cry." He pulled her into his arms. After a while, she moved slowly away from his arms.
"I love you." He repeated. "That night when I saw you with Miguel, I died." He confessed.
"You saw me with Miguel?" she asked.
"Yes. I saw you when you went outside, so I followed. Then I saw that Miguel scooped you and spined you. I thought, He's your boyfriend. Seeing you with another man's arms is killing me. That's why you and Rafael left and left Lucas and Flavio behind. I can't stand it. Sorry," he confessed.
"How did you know that Miguel isn't my boyfriend?" she asked.
"Rafael called me this morning. He said Olga called him. and told him that you're coming," he replied.
"Olga and Rafael are closed?" she asked.
"I don't know. I never speak to them for months after the tournament," he replied.
"How about this ring?" She lifted it in his face.
"That's for you. You're my fiancée now," he said.
"What? You didn't even court me?" she complained.
"Well, I made a shortcut. Amada, since the moment I held you in my arms in that house, you have never left my thoughts." They felt the same way.
He paused.
"I don't know how I felt for you then." He took her hand and wrapped it in his. He put in his chest and he continued.
"When I learnt from Rafael that you'll be the wedding planner for Josef's wedding, I went with them. I didn't know that Josef made us his groomsmen. What is important to me is to see you. I've missed you." His confession made her heart swell.
She loves this man. Their feeling is mutual. To be honest, he never left her mind either. When she walked at the waterfall, it was his face she was imagining. She was wishing that he was the groom for her.
Her feelings for him were confirmed when they both had been matched by heaven during the reception of Jesef's and Care's wedding. If it's not a match made in heaven, then what do you call it? Is it a coincidence that Matheus has the wedding garter and she caught the wedding bouquet?
Her eyes were swimming in the pool of tears. She couldn't believe that Matheus also has a feeling for her. He cupped her face, and he bent down to kiss her. She didn't protest. She doesn't want to. He deepens the kiss, and her heart is pounding so hard. She's so happy. It's like she's being rocked by so much joy.
When they parted their lips. He looked her in her eyes, wiping the tears.
"I love you, since the first day I saw you, and I'm sorry if I mistook you for a maid. I already know everything. Olga told me why you were the one cleaning my house. Maybe it's the destiny. You have to be there, and I have to see you," he said.
She only nodded in agreement. She's out of words. She will enjoy this moment with the man who made her heart flutter.
