The next day I woke up and it felt like my eyes had been super glued shut. My face feeling all sticky from the tears that I had cried. I sat up in my bed scrolling down my Facebook feed until I got a message. It was from Maya. Hey can you let me in? I'm at your Bay Window. I moved out of bed to the Window before unlocking it and letting Maya crawl in.

Maya: Hey, I heard what happened.

Riley: Yh well I guess people don't change people.

Maya: I'm so sorry come hear.

Me and Maya stood in the middle of my room hugging. It wasn't as good as a Lucas hug but it was good enough. I got back into bed and carried on scrolling down my phone until I came face to face if the first photo me and Lucas took together. I sat on my bed looking at it. As I blinked a tear fell from my eye and rolling down my phone.

Maya: babe, I'm sorry.

Riley: I loved him, Maya. I still do.

Maya: give it time. Things have their way of working things out for the best.

The next day I got up getting ready for school. I had to keep my head up high even if my heart was crumbling from inside your chest. I did my make up painting on a smile before getting dressed. I put on a black and white stripy crop top with black high waisted shorts with a patterned kmino and my hair curly. I was gonna try my dam best not to let Lucas cheating on me break my new found confidence.

Word spreads quickly. The whole school found out about me and Lucas and the gossip started. I was tired of people looking at me. Pointing at me, laughing at me. I could take it anymore. Shawn made me take my happy pills to school. I told Maya I was going to the bathroom as I slammed the door behind me and sitting on top of the toilet and taking as many happy pills as I had on me. Soon enough my eyes started to feel heavy.

May's pov.

I was sat in homeroom waiting for Riley I knew she had gone to the bathroom but I didn't know she was gonna be this long. Mr. valentine started talking as I felt someone tap my shoulder I turned around to see Lucas sitting there.

Lucas: where is Riley?

Maya: I dunno she went to the bathroom but she's not back yet.

I saw Lucas' face drop. I look at him for a second totally confused.

Maya: what's wrong!?

Lucas: how long has she been gone for?

Maya: twenty minutes. Why?

I saw Lucas get up running out if the room. Mr. valentine just looking at him then at me before I got up and bolted out of the room too.

Lucas: what bathroom did she go in?!

Maya: this one!  Why?

Lucas: I think she's gonna or has topped herself.

Maya: wait how do you know?!

Lucas: she's tried it before.

We rushed into the girls bathroom all we saw were Riley's converse poking out from under the stall door. I stood there in shock as Lucas was checking if Riley was breathing.

Maya: is she breathing?!

Lucas: yeah but it's very faint call an ambulance.

I got out my phone calling 911. My hands were shaking I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what was gonna happen to her.

Maya: Lucas I'm afraid. What if she doesn't make it

Lucas: She will don't say that.

Maya: this is all your fought anyway!

Lucas: you think I don't know that of course I do. Mahnomen

As me and Lucas were fighting the school nurse and paramedics came rushing in. Lucas got sent into a room on his own while I went with Riley in the ambulance.

I stood outside her room while I watched her get her stomach pumped. Shawn was at work but was gonna get down here as soon as he could. I sat on the chair next to her bed watching her sleep. That was the first time I noticed her scars. This wasn't the first time she had been in hear. I stayed seated as I hear her mumbling she was coming around.

Riley: I bet Shawn is disappointed in me.

Maya: of course he isn't. None if us are. You're going through a hard time. We understand that. Get some rest.

Riley: thanks for being hear.

Maya: anytime.
