Emma was walking into the sheriff station after seeing a 'help wanted' sign in the window. Apparently the sheriff was looking for a deputy. She looked at the room and saw a glass office with a desk and filing cabinets in it. Outside of the glass cubical, was another desk. 'For the deputy.' She thought.
Against the other wall was two green cells with small beds that were made. They were both empty.
"Can I help you?"
She turned around saw a man with a gray shirt and jeans. His shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. He had blue eyes and blonde hair. A small, almost invisible scar on his chin. A star shaped badge was clipped onto his belt.
"Uh, yeah. I'm Emma Swan. I was here about the deputy position." She said looking at him. A sense of recognition in his eyes as she said her name, and for a moment, she was worried that he knew about her "disappearance."
"Do you have experience in this sort of thing? Storybrooke is a small town that doesn't have much crime, but it would be nice to have an experienced deputy."
"I do actually. I'm sorry, I never caught your name."
"David Nolan." He held out his hand for her to shake.
"David... Do you know a Mary Margaret?"
"She's my wife. Why do you ask?"
"Well, are you guys friends with Killian Jones?"
"Yeah. He's my best friend actually. How do you know him?"
"He's my boyfriend. He insisted that we move to Storybrooke for a fresh start."
"I wonder why he didn't tell me he was in town. Especially to stay permanently."
"We just got in yesterday."
"You're hired, Emma." David said with a smile.
"Really? No questions or a background check?" Emma asked in disbelief. Nothing had ever been just handed to her.
"Nope. Any friend of Killian's is a friend of mine." He gave her a warm smile. "Maybe you two could drop by mine and Mary Margaret's loft tomorrow night and join us for dinner?"
"That sounds nice. Thank you."
David handed her a golden star badge. She clipped it onto her belt loop and looked up. David held a gun in his hand.
"Do you know how to use this?" He asked. She nodded and carefully took the weapon from him. She slipped it into the back of her pants like Killian always had his. David then gave her a set of keys. "Do you think you could do patrols tonight? You know, to get you used to the town and to start you off on something easy."
"Yea, not a problem."
"Great. Come here around 6:00?"
"That's perfect. Will you be here?"
"I'll be here when you get here, but not when you get back. Just lock up the station when you go home."
Emma smiled. "Sounds good. Thank you for the job."
"Anytime, Emma."
Emma left the station to tell Killian the good news. She got back to their motel room and didn't see Killian. She walked into the bathroom and saw blood on the sink.
"Oh my God! What happened to you?" She asked as she ran over to him.
He was holding is hand as he tried to get the bleeding to stop. "I cut my hand on the damn razor."
Emma grabbed a wash cloth and put it under cold water. She placed it on his hand over the cut. "You have to put pressure on it so it will stop bleeding."
Killian blushed and looked down. "I knew that."
"Sure you did." She held back a giggle and grabbed a band-aid from the first aid kit under the sink. She unwrapped it and placed it over the cut. "There."
"Swan." Killian whined. "It still hurts!"
She rolled her eyes but kissed it. "Better?"
"Aye, much. Thank you, love."
"I got a job at the sheriff station. And I met your friend David. He also wants us to come over to dinner tomorrow night."
"Do you have to work tonight too?" He asked sarcastically with a small smile on his face, but when he saw the look on hers, his smile faded. "You do have to work tonight."
"It's only patrol, but I don't have to leave until 5:45. You can relax."
Killian picked Emma up and she wrapped her legs around him. He placed her gently on the bed and crawled on top of her. He began kissing her lips, neck, and jaw. "You aren't getting up from this bed until 5:40. He said quickly and went back to kissing her.
Emma moaned as he sucked on her sweet spot. "Fine. But I have to leave earlier than that." He ignored her and began working her shirt off. "Be careful. We still have the little one."
He smirked against her skin and finished removing both of their clothes.
After they were done, Emma ran to the bathroom to get a quick shower and Killian packed a bag with food and made her coffee and put it in a travel mug.
Emma emerged from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body, and ran around the room to finish getting dressed.
"Do you need help?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Yea, can you find my brown leather boots? And grab my red leather jacket?" She asked as she dug in her bag for a shirt and pair of jeans.
"As you wish." He walked over to the coat rack and grabbed her jacket, and the shoes of her choice that sat directly under that. He turned back to the bedroom and Emma was fully dressed.
"Thank you!" She said as she slipped the boots on.
"Slow down. You don't have to leave for another five minutes."
"I'll slow down as soon as I get done."
Killian rolled his eyes but didn't argue. He watched as she put the final touches onto her makeup and then made her way over to him.
"I have to go now, but I'll be back in a few hours." Emma said and pecked his lips, grabbed the bag and coffee, and left the room.
Killian chuckled and fell onto the bed. "My busy little Swan."
