Emma and Killian were doing fine the next week. Regina and Robin had given them a few bibs and baby clothes. But, Baby Jones still needed a name. They decided that they were going to wait until the day she was born to see what she should be named. Emma was getting crankier with each passing day. She was tired, and sick of the baby kicking her all the time. Killian tried to calm her down and get her to relax by buying her her favorite foods, letting her watch whatever television shows she wanted, and by giving her massages. The things he did was sweet, but it only worked to a certain point until she would get sick of the attention.
It was one of those rare nights that she was able to sleep, but not for very long. Emma woke up when it felt like she had wet herself. She threw the covers off and looked down at the bed sheets that were wet. Her heart rate picked up and she smacked Killian on the chest. He sat up groggily.
"I'm trying to sleep, Swan." He wined.
"And I'm trying to have a baby!" She yelled. "Get your ass up!"
He jumped out of the bed and helped her get her sandals on and helped her out of the bed. He put a shirt on and helped her walk down the stairs. He grabbed the bag that they had prepared and walked to the car. He drove as fast as he could to the hospital. When they got there, nurses rushed Emma into a delivery room. Killian helped her undress and she sat down on the hospital bed.
"Really? At three in the morning?" Emma asked her unborn child in a sarcastic way.
"Easy, love. She'll be here soon." Killian said and grabbed her hand.
Emma started squeezing his hand and screamed in pain as the first contraction hit. When it passed, she let go and he grabbed his hand.
"I think you just broke all of the bones in my hand!"
"Shut the hell up! I'd gladly trade you places!"
A knock on the door and then it opening caught their attention. Dr. Burke walked in with a warm smile on her face and a cup of coffee in her hand. "How are we doing, Emma?" She asked.
"I want it out!" She said.
"Me too. I only have two hands!" Killian said as he examined his hand.
"He's whining because I squeezed his hand for the first contraction."
Juliet laughed. She looked at Emma's chart. "I'll be back in a little bit." She said and then walked out of the room.
Killian grabbed his phone and called Mary Margaret and David. They weren't happy to be woken up at this hour in the morning, but as soon as they were told what was going on, they perked up and promised to be there as soon as they could. He got off the phone and placed his hand in Emma's.
"If you have to break my hand, love, it's okay." He told her with a laugh.
She glared at him as another contraction hit. "This is all your fault! I hate you!" She yelled in between small screams of pain.
"I choose to believe that that is your hormones talking."
She didn't reply, but instead laid back against the bed. A few beads of sweat on her brow. "I'm scared, Killian. What do we do if she isn't okay?"
"She'll be fine. Perfect even. Our daughter will be strong, and beautiful, and talented, just like her mother. We have nothing to worry about."
The door burst open again, and her parents walked in. They each hugged Emma and kissed her forehead.
"How do you feel, baby?" Mary Margaret asked.
"It hurts. Is it supposed to hurt that much?" Emma asked.
"Like hell."
Emma glared at Killian. "We are not doing this again unless you get to carry the baby."
He laughed. "Love you too, Swan."
After the next few contractions, Dr. Burke walked in and introduced herself to Mary Margaret and David. Then they walked out and into the waiting room. After checking how far Emma was dilated, Juliet started to put gloves on.
"Get ready to start pushing, Emma." Juliet said. A few other nurses walked over to her.
Killian grabbed Emma's hand and she squeezed it tight. All he could think about was the fact that he was going to have a daughter. He was going to be a father.
"Push, Emma!" Juliet said.
Emma started to push and she screamed in pain. The lights in the room began to flicker and everyone except Emma looked up.
"What was that?" Killian asked.
"Doesn't matter. This baby is coming now." Juliet said and Emma started to push again.
"You're doing great, love." He told Emma. Her hair was damp with sweat. He kissed her temple, and with one last push, the baby was out.
She collapsed onto the pillows breathing heavily.
"Swan, she's beautiful." Killian said as he watched the nurses clean up the little baby. "She's so small!"
"Can I hold her?" Emma asked.
Juliet smiled and handed the baby to her. "Congratulations." Then, everyone walked out of the room, leaving Emma and Killian alone with their new daughter.
"We still need a name for her, Killian." Emma whispered.
"I know, love." He grabbed baby's small hand. As she felt Killian's finger, she wrapped here's around it and Emma chuckled quietly. "I like Eve."
"I was thinking Claire. What about Eve Claire?"
"Perfect." He glanced down to his daughter and rubbed the pad of his finger along her cheek. "Hello, Eve."
The door pushed open and Mary Margaret, David, Regina, and Robin all walked in. They looked at Emma and she nodded to let them know that they had permission to come in. Everyone looked down at the baby.
"What's her name?" David asked.
"Eve." Killian said. "Eve Claire." Eve opened her eyes and saw everyone staring at her. She started to cry and Killian held out his arms. "Let me, Swan." She handed Eve over and as soon as she saw her daddy, she stopped. Eve stared at Killian and he smiled at her.
After everyone got a chance to hold her, they all left when a nurse came in to show Emma how to breastfeed. After Eve was sleeping again, he took her from Emma so she could sleep as well. As he watched his soon to be wife and daughter sleep, he wondered how any day could top this one.
