Killian slipped out of the house before Emma woke up. He drove over to Jefferson's house, and saw David's truck parked out front. He opened the door and finally got to see what the room looked like in the daylight. He could easily picture the living room without the mess and the bloodstains on the floor. Jefferson really was living it large.

"Killian, I'm glad you could make it." David said from behind him. "Thank you so much for helping me with this.

"Not a problem, mate." Killian said. "Tell me a little about the murders?"

"Right. Well, Jefferson's body was found in the living room. Zelena's body was found upstairs. We didn't find a murder weapon on either of them. No witnesses, no footprints, no DNA. Nothing."

"Have autopsies been preformed?"

"Yeah. Jefferson had a bullet shot to the head and one in the knee. Whoever did it, was trying to immobilize him, but once that wasn't enough, decided to end Jefferson's life."

"And what about Zelena?"

"She had some bruising, and then a bullet hole in her chest."

"Emma's ex boyfriend was actually cheating on her with a woman named Zelena Green. Is that who we are talking about?"

"Well she didn't have any ID with her, but she had red hair."

"That's her. Did she happen to be pregnant?" David turned to Killian and looked at him suspiciously. "Walsh may have said something to Emma about Zelena being pregnant." He quickly responded. "It would help Emma get some closure."

"No she wasn't. Emma never mentioned any cheating ex boyfriends. All she said was that her and her last boyfriend didn't agree on the same things."

"Aye." Killian pulled David into an empty room and shut the door. "She will kill me if she knew I told you this, so don't tell it to anyone. Especially Mary Margaret. You know I love her, but the bloody woman can't keep a secret."

David nodded. "It won't leave this room."

Killian sighed. "Walsh actually abused Emma. She told me that they had gotten pregnant, but Walsh didn't want the baby. She said that he said that he would take care of things. She didn't go into detail and I didn't ask. She trusted me not to tell anyone, so don't tell anyone."

"I wonder why she didn't tell me."

"Walsh is out of her life. She was just probably scared to trust you. She finally got to meet her real parents and find out why the abandoned her. She told me that she never felt loved growing up, and it was hard for her to accept that I was there to love her. Now she has her parents and it's a lot for her. She was probably worried that you wouldn't love her if she told you the truth."

"Has she always been like this?"

"The system can change a person, Dave."

David ran his hand over his face. "I wish she wouldn't have been taken from us."

"But then she wouldn't be who she is."

"But she would have been loved and happy."

"Look, I know how you feel. I wish I would have known her sooner, gotten her away from that lunatic faster, but I didn't. I failed her too." Killian looked down in shame. "Bloody hell."

"Let's get back to the crime scene, okay?" David suggested, changing the subject. Killian nodded and they left the room.

Emma was at the grocery store, shopping for some things for dinner, when she ran into a woman. She had short black hair and brown eyes. Her lips were painted red and she wore a navy blue coat. The woman's items scattered on the floor.

"I am so sorry! My head is just in the gutter today." Emma said as she bent down, helping the woman gather her things.

"It's quite alright." The woman said. "I've never seen you in Storybrooke before."

"Yeah, me and my husband just moved here. I'm Emma Swan."

"Regina Mills."

Emma felt like she was punched in the gut.

"Welcome to Storybrooke, Emma." Regina said and walked down the aisle.

Emma shoved down her rage and quickly finished her shopping, and made it home. She stocked the fridge and grabbed her phone, quickly calling Killian.

"Hello, love." He said when he answered. "What a lovely surprise."

"You will never guess who I just saw at the store." Emma said, completely ignoring him.

"Well, let's see. The town is too small to see a celebrity, so who?"

"Regina Mills." Killian's end of the line went silent for a moment.

"Mary Margaret's stepmother." He said bitterly.

"Yeah."

"Did you tell her who you were?"

"No, she seemed so nice."

"And tigers look cute, Emma."

"You have a point."

"For now, let's let the whole thing blow over and we will talk about it with your parents."

"Okay." She said with a sigh. "I miss you. Any idea on when you are coming home?"

"In an hour. And I miss you too, but I have to go. Love you."

"Love you too."

Emma hung up and looked at the clock. It was only 4:30. Killian had been out all day while she had been at the store. There were still a few boxes that needed to be unpacked, but she would leave that up to Killian. Instead, Emma got started on making dinner. By the time he would be home, she would have it finished.

Killian walked in an hour later, just as he said. He followed his nose and found Emma in the kitchen, making lasagna.

"Something smells good, Chef Swan." He joked as he walked up to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

"Let's hope it tastes as good as it smells."

"I'm sure it will." He turned her around and pinned her against the counter with his waist. "I really missed you today."

"I know you did, but let's eat and you can tell me all about your talk with David."

Killian panicked a little bit on the inside, but then remembered that he had told Emma that David wanted to have the 'over-protective dad' speech. He sighed and knew that he had to tell Emma that he was helping with Jefferson and Zelena's murder case. Lying wasn't something he could do to her easily. It felt wrong and left him feeling guilty inside.

"Swan, there's something I need to tell you."
