Chapter 1: On the loose

It was a Friday afternoon at school. I was sitting in English class waiting for the bell to ring for home. I looked up at the clock. 2:50pm. Only 10 more minutes. I sigh as I do my work. I looked up at the teacher who was on her phone. "you're not meant to have phones in class..." I think to myself silently. I rolled my eyes and went back to work.

"Attention everyone..." Everyone's eyes looked at the teacher who was getting up in front of the class. "I have just been informed that, the world's most wanted criminal is on the loose and is in this area..." I heard whispering among the class. I looked at my friend, Lisa with a shocked look. She looked back. "I wonder who it is Jess..." She said to me. I started to shake as I looked back at the teacher.

"When you go home this afternoon, make sure you all be careful. There are police patrolling the area to make it safe for you all to leave today" I admit, I was scared. A most wanted criminal roaming around in the area. "Who is it?!" A guy in my class yelled out. My teacher sighed and looked down. "The criminal is..." All eyes were on her.

"Jason. Jason McCann..." Everyone gasped. My eyes went wide. I choked. "JASON MCCANN?!?!" I yelled out. Lisa looked at me with a smirk. I looked at her with my mouth wide open. Finally, the bell rang. We all got up and left the class room, headed home.

I walked with Lisa down the street. We were headed to the mall. "Wow, Jason McCann! He is sooooo cute!" I looked around frightened.
"CUTE?! HOW IS HE CUTE?!"
"It's just his hair and his eyes and his evil look..." I rolled my eyes as I walk down the street.
"Hey um, Lisa?" I stopped to face her.
"Yeah Jess?" I sighed and looked down.
"I think I might go straight home. It's dangerous... Jason, he's a bomber. He could've planted a bomb anywhere by now..."
"CHICKEN!!" Lisa started to walk around like a chicken clucking at me.
"I am not a chicken!! I happen to wanna keep my life! I don't wanna see Jason! I don't wanna meet him! Unlike you, I HATE him!" Lisa laughed at me.

"You know he could be in this street right now, spying on us Jess"
"STOP IT LISA." Lisa was not only making me scared, but she was pissing me off. "He could even be in that bush over there!" She pointed and I had a look.
"OKAY LISA LETS GO" I stormed off.
"Someone's a scaredy cat!" I ignored her and walked faster. "IM GOING HOME!" I yelled back to her. She didn't answer.

"Lisa..?" I stopped and turned around. She was gone. "LISA?" I started breathing heavily and looked around. I heard a scream from behind the bushes. "LISA!!!" I ran up to the bushes. "HELP JESS! HE'S GOT ME!!" I barged through the bushes and saw Lisa crouching, pretending that she got kidnapped. She looked up at me and fell backwards laughing. "THAT WASN'T FUNNY LISA!" I stormed off.

"You should've seen the look on your face!" I froze as a I heard a slight movement in some of the bushes right beside lisa. I looked closer at the bushes. I saw it move as something ran past. I grabbed Lisa. "We have to go, NOW!"
"What? Why?!" I grabbed onto Lisa's hand and ran towards my house. "Jess! I can't keep up!! What's the hurry?!"

I stopped in my drive way huffing and puffing. "What was that about Jess?!"
"I saw something in the bushes right beside you." Lisa and I walk up to my front door. We walked inside. "Jess!! Thank goodness you're here!" My mom walked up to me and hugged me really tight. "I guess you heard about Jason?" I asked her.
"I did. you're not going outside, not without me or your Dad anyway." I sighed and went up to my room. Lisa followed.

"How cool would it be to get kidnapped by Jason?! I'd love to... I mean, he could be anywhere..."
"Knock it off Lisa..." I sat down on my bed. I looked down. I was scared, shocked and worried. Lisa's ringtone went off and made me jump. She answered. "Hey mom! I'm at Jess's... Yes mom, I'm okay... Alright then... Love you too, bye!" I looked at her. "My mom said she's gonna pick me up from yours..."
"Oh, that's no problem."

I opened my laptop and logged into Twitter. I looked down my timeline. "Ugh, it's all about Jason being on the loose!" I sigh and play my apps on my iPhone and waited for Lisa's mom to come. I heard a car horn go off. "That's my ride! See ya later Jess!" Have a nice weekend!"
"Bye Lisa!" Lisa ran out of my room and to her mom. I smiled. "Finally! She's gone..." I turned on my TV to the news. "Jason McCann was last seen in the industrial area just this afternoon where a large bomb went off. Jason was seen fleeing from police with an older man, headed to the local area."

My eyes went wide. "MOM!" Mom came running into my room. "What is it sweetheart?"
"Jason's headed here, into the local area!" My mom looked at the news. "Police are trying to track down Jason, but are unable to find him. He may just be anywhere, so we all advise you to stay indoors and keep all your doors and windows locked" Mom turned off my TV and hugged me. "Everything will be okay Jess... just try to get your mind off of this."

I sighed as my mom walked out of my room. I put on a movie. For the rest of the afternoon and night, I had a movie marathon. I admit, I was scared. Jason could be anywhere...
